Noop trying to get better

Post by debhosenose » Fri Oct 24, 2014 7:42 am

Good Morning all,
I was diagnosed on Wednesday night, got my machine on Thursday and had one night with it. Still have massive headache.
I got pneumonia really bad in February, wasn't getting better, in fact, felt worse and worse. I think the doctors thought I was nuts. I started checking my oxygen in the mornings, sometimes as low as 60%. I am tired all the time, gained 30 pounds, can't remember stuff, and according to my husband "a little cranky". They finally sent me in for a sleep study. Woke up this morning after my first night and I was at 70...from what I am reading, this is dangerous and I am hoping that CPAP will make it better. Sounds like persistence is the Key? Anyone have any thoughts?

What is your normal oxygen levels during the day when you are up and around?
Have you verified that your cpap therapy is optimal (as in low AHI and leaks not being a problem)?
You can use SleepyHead or ResScan to evaluate your therapy...links in my signature line for SleepyHead.

My daytime normal is around 98 after my many puffers and pills....I am on auto and recording till Monday to see what I am needing for how strong of a flow. I think I am going to try a different mask tonight (I have two different ones to try) and will continue to monitor and record...I see the technician again on Monday to evaluate what is recorded and she will set the machine to a steady flow. Will know more then...

I hope you don't think one night will make everything better. For some it takes a long time others not so long. Like you said persistence is the key. Never give up! Other more experienced hose heads here will lend a hand also.
