Newbie SleeyHead Data

Post by crtello » Fri Oct 24, 2014 6:42 am

Just downloaded SleepyHead and am looking through my data for the past week (just started CPAP). The data basically looks the same throughout the nights i was able to tolerate the mask. 99% of the events are clear airway events. Looks like the events average around 10 seconds or so.

I only did an at home sleep study so they didn't get a ton of data on me. Anyone want to help me on what this data means?

your screenshot isn't very useful, please configure it like the following and repost.

turn off the calendar (f9) and the right sidebar (f10) or just use f12 for the screenshot.
select the detail tab on the left
show the event flags, flow, pressure, leaks, snore and flow limitations carts.

they may be dragged and resized.

upload the screenshot to imgur.com, not flickr, flickr is great for nice pretty photo albums you want floating around the screen, but it sucks for detailed screenshots that you want people to study.

I should note that day was higher than usual. Most nights avg. around 3-3.5 but ALL events are central. I use nasal pillows. Could the events have something to do with me breathing through my mouth during that time?

If you are mouth breathing you probably and doing a lot of it...your leak graph line really never goes over 15 L/min at least this graph and the clusters don't seem to follow the leak pattern all closely.

How is the sleep quality? Are you finding that you are spending much time awake during the night with the machine on?
Is your sleep fragmented during the night.

We don't need flow limitation or snore or respiration graphs....but it might be helpful to see the flow rate graph and the pressure graph.

Yes, I wake up periodically with the machine on and from time to time find my pie hole hanging open. Honestly my sleep has been horrible since i've started using the CPAP but I assume that is to be expected for a bit. Here are the other graphs

Some central (clear airway) event happenings are normal. Sleep onset centrals are normal...so if you have multiple awakenings during the night then you will have multiple sleep onset transitions to sleep so the chance of having a central is going to increase.

Also, the machine doesn't know if you are awake or asleep and it can flag awake/semi awake breathing irregularities by mistake. So some of those centrals could be simple awake/semi awake breathing....and some could be sleep onset.

Since this one seem worse than usual and you normally only see around 3 per hour...probably not a big deal at this point.
Hopefully they will reduce as you get more accustomed to the mask and machine and sleep more soundly. If not talk to your doctor about them but I doubt he will do much with 3 per hour except watch them for a while.

Your mouth may be dropping open with a little mouth breathing that is short lived but it doesn't appear to be causing a massive out flow air out the mouth...if it did we would see it on the leak graph..
Now if the dropping open is causing you to wake up then you might want to work on it from the standpoint of it's messing with your sleep.

again for next time, please give us event flags, flow, pressure OR mask pressure, but not both, leaks, snore and flow, in that order, however many will comfortably fit on the page).
