Re: any atypical apnea patients out there?

... if you look at the guy in kiss doing his tongue thing -(bet all the dollars he has, that he is a secret OSA sufferer)... Good guess. According to an episode of his reality show in 2010, Gene Simmons does indeed have sleep apnea. haha not exactly going to get a prize though am I - interestingly ...

Re: any atypical apnea patients out there?

thing I get with pressures is it's all about drop off time - you have a pressure too low or this ramping stuff which I have never been a fan of and you get a shot of adrenaline - maybe 2 maybe 3 then you're so shot up with panic and fear that it's game over - you can't drop off - even if the auto ma...

Re: any atypical apnea patients out there?

I'm very atypical in a lot of ways but the absolute standard in others- I made a few mistakes and should be the front man of kiss... I'm not even 40 yet, martial artist, body builder, runner, as such I'm not fat let alone obese and I'm a very driven type A personality - so I'm not particularly old ,...

battery powered backup

hi guys - I am looking back into "Plan B" for CPAP

I'm thinking deep cycle battery, plus inverter, would run a F&P icon for 2 maybe 3 days then trickle charge it back up - am I correct?

cheers

Re: help! nasonex, thrush and CPAP! rock and a hard place

Thanks - I've looked into all of that - there's some exciting new stuff coming out. winx in particular looks innovative but it also relies on nose breathing- which is where I am at with CPAP at the moment. IF my nose works CPAP works, if it doesn't CPAP doesn't. Ideally there'd be a device out there...

Re: New Mask Every 6 months.

here is a tip some may criticise me for and others may think great idea. but either way the explanation is that It is bourne of self preservation and the fact that I work very hard and pay my taxes which include funding of the NHS in the UK if a piece of kit nacks up and I do not have backup, my jo...

Re: help! nasonex, thrush and CPAP! rock and a hard place

thank you muse -yes I've read a lot of this and what you say makes a lot of sense. I think nasonex is very mixed blessing, at the moment it's 51/49 for rather than against, if it does me in one more time I might take myself off it and look into daily netti pots instead, something like that, plus all...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

Sleep apnea was first described almost two centuries ago, it's not a new thing I know that, I never said it was new, what I mean is would you rather be that time 200 years ago, because believe me you would suffer like hell, or would you rather be here now? from that, I wonder what it's like in the ...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

Refrigeration is credited for saving the most lives--before that, a large number died from food poisoning. refrigeration is a miracle it is true, but I bet any money if refrigeration was impossible to invent the people on earth left (if any ) would be super resistant to bacteria next to the people ...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

I get the feeling my comments on here are causing offence because a lot of people may be overweight - this is not my intention. To make it worse I'm not overweight, and I'm under 40 so the only strict qualifier for my sleep disorder is not the "stereotypical" qualifier for it -I know why I've got it...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

OK, so my mom had severe sleep apnea (very apparent from trying to share a hotel room with her--despite ear plugs), it was never diagnosed or treated. Yet here I am. And I have probably had severe sleep apnea my entire life, yet I have two HEALTHY children. The flaw in your theory is that sleep apn...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

With all due respect, that whole idea sounds fairly whacky to me, never mind bordering on eugenic thinking. Julie - with all due respect to you, how it it "whacky" to suggest what would be obvious to any medical professional - that someone with OSA does better on a CPAP machine than without being o...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

I'm not one for eugenics, I think anyone has the right to live and be happy - I mean that. but I can tell you this - nature is far less kind than I am- If this OSA had happened to some of our great grandparents, our great great grandparents, we would not be here. End of (or "period" as the USA say)...

Re: CPAP natural un-selection.

If this OSA had happened to some of our great grandparents, our great great grandparents, we would not be here. Are you thinking that OSA wasn't discovered until you were born? I believe it's like when people died of old age at 40 cuz we didn't know what killed them tho that was prob heart attack o...
