Legal to Sell Resmed Swift?

Post by MyJanine » Wed Oct 22, 2014 7:54 am

OK, Couldn't help noticing on another thread some complaints about Apria. This figures because after my wife (Janine) spends 2 hours with an office visit fitting her mask selection... Apria sent the wrong mask. And since she wasn't sure about the shipment, she opened the package. With that of course Apria will not accept a return so we have this perfectly new ResMed SwiftFX Nasal Pillow System complete (Headgear, Frame System, Sm/Med/Lg Pillows). Since it has value we listed it on eBay yesterday only to have the auction taken down because we are not "health care professionals".
What do I do with this perfectly new equipment? Trash?

ebay will let you sell parts of the mask individually, but not the whole thing.

or maybe someone here will want to snap it up, but you'd probably get more $$$ parting it out on ebay.

EBay won't let you sell the entire package because the entire package requires a RX but there's nothing stopping you from dividing up the parts and selling it is sections as replacement parts since replacement parts don't require a RX...
That's how EBay sellers are getting by the RX rule...go do a search for Swift FX and see what pops up....pieces of a mask and it's super easy to build your own mask. I did it the other day for a P10 nasal pillow mask and a Swift FX nasal pillow which just came yesterday ...wish I had known you wanted to sell this one...I would have been happy to buy it from you.

That said..post it here with what you would like to get for it...new but opened package...if it's a fair price someone here will buy it. Be warned...the forum members here are notorious tightwads.

Pale, Pugsy,
Thank You, Yes, I found it curious that FeeBay had so many listing for parts, but only one or two full setups. If anyone here is interested I will send up any pictures or information. This setup is 3 days old, brand new.

If EBay catches the full setups...they will pull them but I have seen some carefully worded full setups sneak past the EBAY police. Snatched up a couple myself.

EBay won't allow any sale of anything that requires a RX...machines too. But since the parts don't require a RX the sellers part out the masks. A little more work for them but it is what it is. It's a stupid rule...like who in their right mind would buy one of these things if they didn't need it. Sure as hell not me.

If you want to sell it here...just stick a price on it. Forum members (at least me) would like to see a price...some are bashful..some don't like to haggle (that would be me)...and some will haggle no matter what because they just love to haggle.

Yes on Ebay it is all in the wording. I have seen mask and pillows with free gift for a full set up. I think it is all in not announcing it is the full set up. I can tell you I got a full swift FX for her set up in the last month on Ebay for $40 with shipping so I don't know if or how long it will take to sell it for $80. HTH

I hope you are able to sell your mask and recoup some $$$.

Last Friday I received a mask with several pillows from my DME. It just so happens it's the same mask you are selling. I tried using the mask for 3 nights and decided to switch back to another mask I have. I called my DME and told them the mask wasn't working for me. They said... no problem... you have 30 days to return it and you are within the 30 days. I have an appointment on Friday to bring the mask back to the DME. Happily they have an office that is only five minutes from me. I also returned a mask several years ago and didn't have a problem.

This is just to let you know that all DMEs are not the same. I would find out which DMEs are on your insurance plan and then call and ask about their return policy. If you read on this forum you'll see that all DMEs have different return policies, tho more tend to do business like yours. I still feel certain that my DME isn't the only one with a decent return policy. You will prob have to do some research but it could be well worth it. Sometimes a little known DME will work harder to get and keep your business.
