Resmed making noise with exhale

Post by Pualani » Mon Oct 13, 2014 8:58 am

I have listened carefully. It is not the hose or nasal pillows or humidifier. I can hear a noise when I exhale. I put my ear down by the machine and it is definitely doming from the machine. Wondering if the machine has a leak somewhere. Anyone else have this problem? Solve it? Thanks.

Try varying the force of your exhale while listening.
If it changes...this may be what is going on.

Thanks for the link. Will trying adjusting the EPR. Like others, the noise comes and goes. It will make it for a few weeks and then fix itself. Very annoying to me as I can't fall asleep. Others suggest it might be the size of the filter but it is the same filter whether it makes the noise or not. Will try changing it anyway.

When I said try varying your own exhale...that means the force of your breathing upon exhale...not EPR (though you can try it if you wish).
I found that I could hear the noise on exhale no matter what the EPR was and no matter which hose I used (though some people had success with changing hoses). Filter made no difference but worth a try.

It was only when I changed my own breathing and breathed a little less forcefully while awake that the noise went away.
It's still present sometimes on this S9 Adapt I have now but not nearly as much as with the S9 VPAP Auto but I am using less pressure now when starting out the night.

If you have a humidifier and take the machine apart a lot like I do check the deal between the humidifier and the actual machine. There is a rubber seal that the tube fits through and mine for folded over once and was making a awful noise until I finally found it.

Had an issue similar to this...turns out the humidifier wasn't seated correctly. Once I discovered that is was the humidifier, it was an easy fix. Just make sure it's pushed all the way in and seated properly. Good luck!

I experenced this problem. I can not sleep with that noise. It is particularly annoying to me. I find it is mask specific, happens with some masks not others. It also worsens at higher pressures.
