Another Sleepy Head question

Post by raftergirl » Tue Sep 30, 2014 5:26 am

What exactly is Flow Limitation? How does that differ from OA. The SH definition is "a restriction in breathing from normal, causing a flattening of the flow waveform." What causes this restriction if it's not obstructive?

Flow limitations are usually obstructive in nature but the percent of reduction in flow maybe isn't enough to earn a OA or hyponea flag or maybe doesn't last long enough. Remember it has to last 10 seconds to get a flag.
Have the airway totally blocked for only 8 seconds and it doesn't meet criteria.

The definitions in SleepyHead were all taken from either ResMed or Respironics.

Thanks pugsy and palerider.
I'm still a newbie, trying to figure out what all the SH data and terminology means. That YouTube video was helpful.
