AHIs Down; Vibratory Snore Index Up

Post by JSG » Mon Sep 29, 2014 10:15 am

I adjusted the pressure of my machine last night down from 22/18 to 20/16 because I was sick of feeling like a space shuttle astronaut feeling my face blown away. (I need to update my signature to reflect that I now use a full-face mask, as well as the new pressures.) Anyway, my AHI is awesome: .33, but all of a sudden, the machine has picked up snoring. I don't mind this at all, myself, and I sleep alone. I'm just wondering if I should be at all concerned. My preliminary research indicates it's nothing to be concerned with at all. What do you guys think? Shown is my SleepyHead data from last night. Look at that tiny value for AHI!

The drop in EPAP to 16 cm is allowing a bit more snores to occur. Not unexpected results since you are using less pressure. It's not able to prevent the snores as well but the snores aren't growing up to be OAs or hyponeas (or we would see an increase in those) and if you are sleeping better then a few snores slipping past the defenses isn't a big deal.
