I've received this pillow from SleepGuy and really like it. It is really helping with mask leakage and with the neck pain I normally experience. It does keep it shape and stay in place nicely. I use it on top of a wedge pillow and am surprised to find that it's not sliding down during the night.

I too received this pillow from Bret (I believe I got the older version as it is rectangular and the zipper is on the longer side). Its amazing! Although I use CPAP, I can only sleep on my back so my pillow hasn't been so much of an issue with the CPAP. However, I have neck issues. Its always been tough to find a pillow that provides enough support, especially over time. This one is great as you can shape it exactly to the shape of your neck/head. I find it more comfortable than a memory foam pillow. Cooler too. It does make a bit of noise when you adjust it, but not with normal sleep, and my spouse isn't disturbed by it. Plenty of buckwheat hulls included. Highly recommended! I've also reviewed it on Amazon.

Thank you for your kind offer, Sleepguy, but I find that 4" pillows are also too tall for me.
(Did I mention my short neck?) Luckily, I can sew, and am looking for a quilted remnant
of appropriate size to make myself a 3" tick for the awesome filling in the pillow you sent me.
Luckily, my mom shared her sewing talent with me, and I have made or altered nearly everything I own.
(--including 2 formals and my wedding dress)

I would suggest maybe a trapezoid cross section rather than a triangle to accommodate those of us with short necks.
(unless the pillow is made in sizes)
chunkyfrog, sounds like you need to get a copy of the original version of the pillow. The gusset is 4" and it's a rectangle box shape with a small zipper on the side. I can get you one at cost. PM me.

As for sleeping on the thin end, what about trying a thick-ish pillow case? I don't think the zipper is that big of deal...but ideas are appreciated. We tried many different ways to do the zipper....and the top is best. But sleeping on it--I'd like some feedback on that score.
The zipper location doesn't bother me but I could understand how it could not be in the best spot for some that want to sleep on the thin side. Have you tried putting a baffle over it so it's covered? I'm not sure if baffle is the correct term for it; two pieces of cloth on both sides of the zipper that would cover the plastic zipper parts.

Yes...to an extent. But the design people I have engaged aren't too enthusiastic about a baffle. We tried a "hidden" zipper but the quilt is just too thick.

My thoughts are: with a pillow case you can hardly feel the zipper if you chose to sleep on the thin edge. The caveat is that if you sleep on that edge, the hulls will tend to be less stable (hold their shape).

But at this point I think it's good enough on the zipper. Unless somebody comes up with a better idea pronto...

Oh, invisible zippers--I love them! They do require a thinner fabric, to allow unimpeded zipping.
Maybe one could be sewn into a single layer, lying behind a quilted placket.
Not so economical for your use, but I like unexpected couture for my own use.

I take my temperpedic pillow with me whenever I travel....including out of country. TSA has no issue with my CPAP machine or temperpedic pillow.

I'm kind of curious if the customs folks would have an issue with a pillow full of buckwheat hulls going in & out of countries.

any thoughts?

Hmm; buckwheat, crossing international lines; Since it is just the hulls, and not the grain itself,
I would imagine less likelihood of the infestations that make customs/agriculture cops freak out.
I would still pack it in checked luggage and never mention it.
At 5-7 lbs for a buckwheat pillow, maybe a bead pillow (like the "Sobakawa") would be easier to fly with.

I've received the new version and after 2 nights I'm liking it. I suspect I'll need to add more fill (which is provided) to get enough elevation, right now I'm using it on top of fairly flat goose down pillow. This may be due to the several fused
vertebra I have in my neck. I've put it in a standard pillow case so I haven't noticed the zipper while sleeping. YMMV

Thanks for all the great feedback. I have many requests that I have not yet sorted through. Early next week I will do so and figure where I am with new old stock. Then I will send back responses to the best qualified applicants (pillow IQ and experience). I might keep this going for a bit. The feedback has been quite helpful. Working on branding the cpap-specific application. Right now I am toying with: CPAPfit pillow from Pur-Sleep

If you haven't heard back from me please be patient.

Thanks,

Bret

Packing the pillow...

Not sure who got more out of the pillow packing process... me or the Cats. The Cats were REALLY interested in that bag of stuff I was putting into a cup and pouring into the pillow. Even though is basically doesn't have much of a smell, they were all over that bag and wanted to "play".

I had visions of them getting into it tonight and waking up to it all over the room... I had to put a tie on the bag when done and put it back in a box to keep them away from it. Will put it on the top shelf of one of the closets in the morning.

I can't tell you how many people tell me cat stories like that--they say I should make a pet bed and cat play toys. LOL

He sent me one of his aromatics ( clear ) . My AHI is consistently around 2.5 and I awaken often after 3:00.

First nite on the " clear" aromatic - AHI dropped to 2.0. For the last five days, straight, my AHI is under 0.5 -- yes .. Zero.Five ! My 3:00 awakening is now " muted" in that I wake and roll over back to sleep.

Moz,
I got the aromatics starter set off of cpap.com and have used it every night since I started cpap therapy and love it. I didn't like the plastic smell I got from my mask in my titration study so I bought this and from the first night of therapy I wore the mask all night every night. I saw there are some new aromatic kits on cpap.com and want to try the Christmas scents.
