Question for O2 compressurer users
Question for O2 compressurer users
I am using a Invacare Platnium XL, from Lincare. I don't think it's working correctly.
If I run it with the guage set at 2 to 3 lpm, the O2 flow seems weak, in volume and pressure.
What I would like you to do is with it running look at your guage, close off the line and see what happens to, the ball in the guage.
In mine the ball stays at the same level, to me I feel it should drop to zero as the flow is stopped. It also feels like the pressure is lower than thefts the XPAP.
Thanks, jim

Yes, if you block your tubing your liter flow ball should go down to zero. Sounds like you have a hole or slit in your tubing. Also a little trick is to dip the end of your tubing, or cannula, into a cup/glass of water. It should look like the water is boiling.

Re: Question for O2 compressurer users
Can you get them to come and check it? They're getting paid by "someone" for the service. Should be able to verify it's working properly.Goofproof wrote:I am using a Invacare Platnium XL, from Lincare. I don't think it's working correctly.

take the tubing off the concentrator, put your finger over the outlet. the flow indicator will drop to zero unless you have a leak inbetween the flow control/indicator and the outlet.Goofproof wrote:I am using a Invacare Platnium XL, from Lincare. I don't think it's working correctly.

if it drops to zero, and does not when you do the same at the end of your tubing, you've got a leak in your tubing.

Re: Question for O2 compressurer users
Lincare checks it once monthly, but I don't know for sure if the tech passed his ged.
They have it hooked with a 3 ft hose and adaptor going into a 50 ft green hose, the adapter was leaking. So I did away with the 3 ft and adapter, just using the 50ft hose. Pressure restored, as is volume, now if the O2 is pure enough things should be ok.
I'm ashamed to admit this has been going on for over 7 months, basically I've just been running up my electric bill for noises and heat.
A lot of time Lincare can't get in cause we sleep in until afternoon, however they did check it 6 times and left it bad.
I'm going to fill a bottle with O2 from it and drop a lit match in it, if it flares it's O2, if the flame stays the same its air.
Thanks for the help. Jim

Re: Question for O2 compressurer users
if it's the IRC5LXO2 model, it should have a sense02 feature that tests the output o2.
if it's the IRC5LX model, then that's not included in yours and your idea of trying to explode a match is a about all you've got
though I might suggest aiming the output of the hose at a match, instead of dropping it into something full of near pure o2.
well, if we never hear from Jim again, we'll know he wasn't actually goofproof.

Actually I'm still "Goofproof", I'm just too old and lazy to get the job done, as I once was.palerider wrote:if it's the IRC5LXO2 model, it should have a sense02 feature that tests the output o2.

The fire in the O2 can't be as bad as the carbide in the swithbox I set off in the garage at age of 13, blew it out of the concrete wall, the explosion brought out all the neighbors. It was hours before my hearing was back to normal.
My largest explosions, are awesome, 72 holes charged with 1200 pounds each of Anfo, set with 47 ms delay hole to hole, with 147 ms delays per row. We used to break more rock than John Henry. Jim

Re: Question for O2 compressurer users
Lincare called yesterday, and came out today, pronounced the unit ok, tested the O2 with a meter.I explained the leaking fitting to the person, I hopes he will remember for his other customers. When I was working, I always want all the info I could gleen, to make the outcome of my work better, sometimes is pays to listen. Jim
After two nights with the O2 working again, I seem to be sleeping more restful. I didn't think it world make a difference, but it may have.
