Anyone have clicking in their unit?

Post by The Baby Crow » Thu Sep 18, 2014 6:31 am

Second night with the new FFM.

I slept right through the night last night but when I woke up this morning my husband told me that at 3:30 this morning the unit started to "click"........it did this for an hour and then stopped. He said he didn't want to wake me up because I was sleeping so soundly.

There were no error messages or anything unusual when I looked at it so I'm not sure what it was.
The "trouble shooting" in the manual doesn't mention "clicking".

Anyone know what this could have been? I told him to wake me tonight if it happens again.

By the way my AHI was 19.6 and yesterday it was 5.6 so something must be going on.

Thanks,
Marilyn

If it happens again try to figure out if it is coming from the humidifier.
FWIW..I have used 2 different S9 machines and never heard the clicking noise but others have.

With the limited info provided I am gonna guess water in the tube (hose) that will make a popping sound which is described differently by diff people. Check your hose for water. You can simply raise the mask end of the hose lifting the remaining hose so any water will run back to the chamber. But to confirm your suspicions simply remove the hose right at the chamber to see if water runs out.

The fix is to turn down the humidifier.

I agree with checking for excess water in the hose.....it does make a strange sound.

I heard weird noises a couple times when my bedmate was using the humidifier, I reached over, and lifted the hose and let it drain back into the humidifier so it could have a second try at life, er, vapor.

I have heard clicking from my humidifier, but is a lot quieter at the beginning of the night when the tank is full.

Yup, all my ResMeds, including my newest ASV model (auto Adapt) have a slight periodic click every now and then. I think it's the humidifier sensor (maybe a power solenoid?) - or so I was told last year by a member who's a techie and who's delved into the problem. Sorry I can't remember who it was. I don't think there's a fix for that issue, however you'll eventually get used to it... like your house's furnace making noises when it's cycling on and off. It certainly won't hurt to try lifting up your hose and draining the condensate back into the tank... that can get old tho

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Mine makes a very slight clicking noise every so often, but only when it is off. When it is on, my noise issue is amplified breathing (Darth Vader effect), and even a constant hum when I hold my breath (and its not conducted). Hoping a different mask will fix it, as its hard to fall asleep. Constant noise is easier to deal with. Best wishes.

I should have done a search first as I started a new thread today with the same clicking issue. It is definatly not water in the hose in my case because it still does it with hose off. Here is a quote from my original post.
"Hi all, I have been using CPAP for 7 years. I recently updated my equipment to Resmed S9 with the H5i humidifier. Love the machine except for one issue. It makes a faint clicking sound every 3-5 seconds while plugged in. This sound is there whenever power is to the machine. It is during therapy and even continues all day when not in use. The sound goes away if I unplug the power supply or disconnect the H5i humidifier from the main unit. Has anyone else noticed this? Can someone verify if their unit does this. The click is faint but I can still hear it when trying to sleep."
