I have tried the following FFM: Quattro Air; AirFit F10; Quattro FX for her; and Mirage Quattro. My 90% IPAP ranges over several days from 21.60 to 24.80. Sometimes I can't get it set right from the beginning without it blurping loudly, other times I sleep until about 2:30 a.m. and then find that I can't move without it blurping loudly the rest of the night keeping me awake and distrubing my husband (although he is a sweethart and doesn't complain). The last two nights I've woken up with backaches. I've tried both the liners and ordered the pad-a-cheek for one of the masks but that is not helping me. I've tried tightening the straps, and if I loosen the straps the leak noise is worse.
Before you ask: I thought I'd need the FFM since I have breathed through my mouth most of my life due to stuffed up noise from allergies. I have recently gone through official allergy testing and found out some allergies I didn't know I had (chicken and baker's yeast) things I've eaten my entire life. Since I've stopped eating those foods, my nose is now open.
I am considering nose mask or pillows. I worry about the high pressure I'm on and how hard it will be to adjust to the high pressure going in more directly than a FFM. I had no problems with the FFM and the high pressure, actually liked the feel of it. (I know I'm weird). But it scared me when I found out the my 02 was going into the 70's at night. I have also played with a chin strap to help keep my mouth closed.
The leakage is keeping me awake and I find myself getting up around 5-5:30 a.m. and going to sleep without the machine in my lazy-boy chair in the living room. I am getting about 5-6 hours a night on my autoSv each night but would love to be able to get a full night's sleep like before the machine.
So... Any suggestions from those on high pressure?

mask liners?
and, as far as nasal pillows causing the pressure to 'go more directly in', there's nothing to that theory.
there's no more 'direct in' than anything else, you've just got a smaller space around your nose than on a ffm or nasal mask.
they're all essentially the same. hose, box, nose opening. (presuming you're not mouth breathing) nasal masks are just a smaller box, if you think about it.

Ogeo:
Using a chin strap with a full face mask is not the best strategy. It does do the job but, for some folks, pushes the jaw backwards and increases the likelihood of additional obstructive events.
A better solution is a soft cervical collar which supports the jaw and prevents drop as your muscles relax during sleep.
Jaw drop is a cause of leakage in FFMs but not the only cause.
Mask liners will help with other types of leaks.
Keep on with keeping on. It will get better

I actually went to the pharmacy to look at a soft cervical collar. They are way too wide. I have only about a 1-1/2 to 2" space between my chin and chest -A very short neck! I guess I will have to design my own somehow.JDS74 wrote:Ogeo:

Have you tried a CPAP pillow? It helps me.

I bought one of those bead-type neck pillows (cheap) and stuff it under my chin at night. It doesn't go around my neck leaving marks from my headgear. It also doesn't have a stiff height to it, so in your case, it might help.

Re: Auto SV - 2 weeks in - Mask Leakage Problems
I tried to find someone that had one in stock so I could look at them. My usual bed pillow is not very thick. If I use one that is too hard or thick, I get neck pain.Uncle Flapp wrote:Have you tried a CPAP pillow? It helps me.
I looked at them. My husband thought they might work. I will take another look at them when I go to town next and see what they feel like around the front of my neck.M'ohms wrote:I bought one of those bead-type neck pillows (cheap) and stuff it under my chin at night.
