I've had High Blood Pressure and been on medications for it for about 20 years.
Since I started CPAP 5 days ago, my blood pressure seems to be really quite low when I've taken it twice in the past 3 days.
111/51 this morning. I'm almost afraid to take my HBP medication today.
Does anyone else have any experience with this?
Thanks,
Marilyn

You might want to ask your doctor because even if people have had experience with this, each situation is going to be different, particularly when it come to blood pressure meds.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
I told her yesterday and she just said to keep monitoring it and to keep taking the meds.
I just wondered if someone else had the experience of their blood pressure being low after being on CPAP, nothing about meds. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
Actually a good many people have found that once on effective cpap therapy that their blood pressure issues improve significantly..either they can reduce their meds or end up going off them.
Didn't work for me..but then I am just borderline and on no meds.

Be careful when you wake in the a.m... if your BP's very low (still on meds) you could easily become dizzy and need to get up slowly.

My BP has been going down constantly since I started on CPAP 6 months ago. However, I've also been working out aerobically faithfully since then too, as one of the positive benefits of CPAP was to give me back a higher level of energy. My doctor has been reducing some meds, and taking me completely off others. Hard to quantify whether the CPAP or the workouts were having this effect; I suspect it was a beneficial combination of both. I'm not complaining!

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
Lowered readings of BP is a common (and quite good) side effect of successful xpap therapy. It's been reported hereabouts several times, and I'm always interested in the observations and the level of bp decrease.
Mine went down, and conceivably I could go w out my one and only med. That said, I still seem to have that danged white coat syndrome, and my at office readings aren't as good as my home readings.
Glad your bp is trending the correct way, and hope the doc can help you correct any potential overmedication.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
My blood pressure, along with my diabetes dramatically dropped (and have stayed down) after starting cpap therapy .
