CBD for insomnia?

Post by Wantok » Tue Sep 16, 2014 10:18 pm

I am talking to a psychologist tomorrow about CBD (and/or pot) for insomnia (I have controlled mild sleep apnea) because of sleep maintenance, sleep consolidation and restlessness problems. Anyone have any experience with pot or CBD treatment of these kind of problems. I don't generally have problems falling asleep. I am 67.

Assume you mean CBT not CBD
Assume by pot you mean marijuana and not "plain old therapy"

Look up forum member robysue who has written about her experience with CBT for insomnia.

Nope, I don't mean cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I mean CBD (cannabidiol) or pot minus the THC's. I have heard both pot, which I believe is CBD+THC and CBD being used for insomnia, but I am not sure what the psychologist will be suggesting.

I've never really had a high-cbd strain put me to sleep, at least not like a good indica would. Ask the budtender for a magnifying glass so that you can see the trichomes; if they are still clear, the plant was harvested too early and the sleep effect won't be as strong. You want the trichomes to be milky white. Usually a good budtender can direct you to at least one strain they have that will knock you out quickest. Also, edibles aren't that good for sleeping, even if they are made from indica (but you can't tell and have to trust who made it); so try to use a vaporizer instead of flame.

No matter how much time I spend on the pot, it never helps.
