Crazy noises

Post by starkadator » Tue Sep 16, 2014 6:43 pm

For 3 months now I've been totally compliant with my cpap treatment. My AHI runs between 1 and 2, and the mask fit is always good according to the data. My husband keeps telling me that I make "crazy noises" during the night which wakes him up frequently and scares him to death. I've tried tightening and loosening the headgear but it keeps happening. What could be causing this and what do I do about it? Thank yoiu.

perhaps asking him to describe things a bit better would help.

I immediately thought of "Car Talk," where people attempt to replicate the noise their car is making and Tom and Ray attempt to diagnose the problem. I wonder if the forum software has optional audio functionality...

Is your hubby sure that it's you and not noise emanating from your mask?

I feel quite sure that it's a mask leak problem because it has woke me up a couple of times..He says it's my breathing that is so noisy. Maybe I need a chin guard to help keep my mouth closed.

Maybe use a phone app to record the sounds?

If the noises are just like the kind you get after eating beans, then it's definitely a mask problem created by your either being on your back (not a good idea anyhow), and your facial structure changing radically as a result, or the mask not fitted properly, etc. etc. If the noises are different, beepy, shrieky, bubbly, whiny, etc. etc. please do your best to describe them or record them and then find names for them.

Besides the mask leak noises, I see you're using a bi-level machine. If you're using a higher pressure with lots of exhale relief (differences between IPAP and EPAP), that could also be a possibility.......the differences between the sounds in the inhale and exhale.
