I get my APAP on Saturday!!!

Post by Evpraxia » Mon Sep 15, 2014 5:39 pm

Thanks be to God!! I called the home respiratory office and the insurance approved my getting a APAP!!! I will be picking it up on Saturday, Sep 20.

I have been using "the brick" (my hubby's old CPAP from 2003) and the new one WILL be the same as my hubby's new machine, the Respironics System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with Heated Humidifier.

Even with the old "brick" I can tell a difference in my energy level and lack of yawning/sleepiness during the day; my hubby can tell the difference in me as well (I asked for his input). We have been increasing the pressure by .2 each day and I am up to 9.4 now.

Hip Hip HOORAY! Hip Hip HOORAY! Hip Hip HOORAY!

Can you tell I am excited?!?!?!?

Yes, so happy that your new machine will finally be arriving! Not a brick, either!

I am so excited for you that you are getting your awesome data CPAP on Saturday. Congrats! I remember How I was excited also! I do not recommend raising your pressure .2 every day. Raising the pressure daily does not give your body enough time to settle into the new pressure, plus You do not have enough information to work with. Also, raising the pressure daily could also be harming your body then helping. This also applies to the data CPAP That you will be getting soon. It does not take very long for your body to let you know what is and is not working. As you start reading your data, Your data will also inform you as to what is and is not working, then you can make the adjustments as needed.

As for your "brick", I suggest that you do not throw it into the trash on Sunday. You will soon discover that it can be used at another location as I have. You'll notice by my information below. I am using an auto CPAP which gives me a lot of options. My regular CPAP, I have in my spare bedroom so when I need to sleep there, I still have a CPAP to use. As for my "brick" CPAP, I have that at my parents' house to use when I go over there. Just a thought.

Best of luck to your therapy!
