Full Face Mask Movement - ASV / BiPap
Hi all, Lately my nose has been a bit stuffy so last night I traded my usual Wisp for my back-up full face mask (Quattro FX) to see how it went. I'm on ASV but figured BiPap users may have this issue too... I could feel the mask inflating and deflating against my face. Breathe in - the seals inflate...

Re: Conflicting results. Complex Apnea or not?
Going on the thyroid meds could have helped shrink your thyroid gland and restore upper airway patency. I used to need a CPAP pressure of 11 but after going on Synthroid (for Hashimoto's), the pressure needed to keep my airway open has dropped. (Although I'm on ASV now for Complex Apnea, the EPAP se...

Re: Feel Much Worse on ASV: Help?
• ASV settings: Pretty standard. Min EPAP=4, Min PS=2. I've tried a bunch of settings in the past, including higher EPAP and higher PS. I can tell you that the higher the pressure, the worse I feel. Hi there, Sorry you're feeling so crummy! I've been there (and am still there actually) - it's not a...

Bi-Flex vs. C-Flex - Complex Apnea
Long story short - Current on BiPap ASV. Several months ago, my doc suggested going back to using straight CPAP with C-Flex (based on sleep study results which titrated using both CPAP and ASV). Instead of buying a new CPAP w/ C-Flex, I programmed my BiPap ASV to straight CPAP pressures - and tried ...

Re: ASV and Encore Reporting - Experiments
Neither I nor my DME has found a way to stop the beep. I think they even contacted Respironics about it. We could turn off all the alarms, but not the beep that occurs while turning the machine on or off. If anyone knows how to disable it (without opening up the unit), I'm all ears You posted a few ...

Re: ASV and Encore Reporting - Experiments
Good catch about the 'split night' data showing the more precise values! Are you currently being tested for various endocrine issues? I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. TSH was normal-to-subclinical, but I tested positive for mildly elevated anti-Tg antibodies and there's a family history, so I was put...

Re: Tidal Volume - a question - (ASV)
The scatter graphs are interesting. Your May RR is trending down a bit from Feb but nothing stands out as a definite sign of what's going on. Have you recently started new meds, supplements, upped your exercise, etc? Have you felt worse or better in May? This may be one of those things that remains ...

Re: Tidal Volume - a question - (ASV)
The individual months were between 630 and 660 mL each month with only a couple of days above 700 mL. Contrast that with May when all but a few were above 700 mL. Gotcha. This gives me a clearer understanding of why the increase seems so sudden (going from a few times in 8 months, to seeing these n...

Re: Tidal Volume - a question - (ASV)
Hi there. Interesting observation. How did you come up with the 650 mL for the first 8 months? Did you look at the data as one big chunk or did you find an average for each month, then find the average of those 8 averages? That makes a big difference with calculations. (Because taking the average of...

Re: ASV & Encore Pro - a question
Hi JDS74, it's been a while! I notice the same thing about the rounding. Most (I'd say 75 - 90%) of nights will have tidal volumes such as 400, 420, 430, and then very rarely I'll get a 423.5. I've noticed that for MV and RR too (although it seems to round to the nearest whole number, i.e. RR was re...

Re: ASV machine problem
Hi and welcome BigA! I'm a bit confused by your post because I could see you meaning two things... Is the display not showing anything (like when an LCD display burns out), or do you mean your AHI displays but keeps showing 0.0? If it's the problem with AHI of 0.0 every night, I had the same problem...

Re: Getting ready for first night... bipap set to 25/15
Thanks Denial and TNT for the explanations. So it's all anatomical. Hi avi, the reason for needing high pressures will be different for each individual, but I'd like to add that your anatomy can be influenced by disease and genetics. Both of those factors have contributed to why I needed moderate p...

Re: Reras on Respironics-Bipap ASV
Encore Pro (earlier version) doesn't report minute vent, tidal volume, and some other parameters that SleepyHead does report for the 750. Encore Pro (current version) reports these parameters for the 960. So it is not clear to me that the RERA data is not collected and so not reported or is collect...

Re: What does PB look like
For what it's worth, I had occasinal 1% PB when I was on Bipap for a month. Now that I am on ASV my PB registers as 0% on my machine, but in my reports I see anywhere from 0% to 0.5%. Do you have the Respironics ASV? I think the machine display may round to the nearest % and not include fractions. ...

Re: What does PB look like
Interesting. I find it somewhat odd that the sleep study reports wouldn't indicate CSR. Seems like an important thing to catch. I interpreted Pugsy's statement as "CSR is rare, even in those with diagnosed central apnea", not "most sleep studies don't report CSR". All of my sleep study printouts ha...
