Re: Airfit F10 FFM and bounce

You probably have it too tight... the cushion needs room to expand when the machine is first turned on. As for mouth dryness, I have the F10, before that used Quattro Air... these use the same cushion. My mouth is frequently dry as I'm a mouth breather. If I don't use a FFM, therapy air will leak ou...

Re: Wow. (Mom's bad DME)

Sleepylynn, another option that might work for your mom if she isn't able to find a mask that works is mask liners. I could not control leaks until I learned about these, and they were a game changer for me, especially since I was able to continue using the mask I was first given... two excellent so...

Re: almost killed myself with full face mask

I think most machines now are auto machines that will turn on when they sense that you are breathing, but your experience was worth sharing for newbies without auto machines. I generally turn mine on as soon as I turn the light off, but if I forget it will turn on anyway after a minute or so.

Re: Help with Mask "Farting" sounds

I've never heard of maskmate. However, I dealt with "face farts" when adjusting to the mask. In spite of washing well to eliminate facial oils etc. I couldn't tame the leaks that cause the farts. Then I learned about mask liners; there are several brands out there. They were a godsend for me. The no...

Re: New User – First Night!

Lauperfan, I just posted to your other thread, but this response is for your mask and breathing difficulty. As a mouth breather, I cannot use a nasal or pillow mask. I use a full-face mask and it doesn't matter if I breathe with my mouth or my nose. Many of us here have tried many masks in an effort...

Re: No longer need CPAP?

Lauperfan, We all understand what you're going through here, we've all been where you are now. Perhaps it would help you to research Sleep Apnea in general to understand what it truly means. There's no cure, only treatment. I found that out when I didn't want to do cpap at all, and my sleep doc told...

Re: What kind of doctor?

If you live near a large clinic with many specialists, see if they have a sleep center.... any of those you mentioned except a dentist, you could see but try to find a doctor with a special interest in sleep disorders. A dentist could do it too, but they will usually prescribe a mouth procedure, ent...

Re: Mask more mask

I started out with Quattro Air FF, which has forehead strap, and adjusted just fine.. then I switched to another FF, the F10, which does not have forehead strap, and I love the feeling of freedom I get without the forehead strap... these masks use the same cushion, but the frame is a little differen...

Re: What do you think of the Amara View Full face mask?

I don't have the Amara View, but will get it when I need a new mask, I think. Most DMEs will let you exchange within 30 days... the reliable ones will, anyway usually. Stand your ground!

Re: Mask Leaks?

Yes, mask liners can help... I use them as I couldn't control them any other way. You mentioned fitting the mask while sitting up... your face changes shape when you lie down (muscles sag, etc) so it is best to fit the mask in the prone position... I use a FF mask, but there are others you could try...

Re: Why would replace my water chamber in my System One Auto?

I replaced my PRS1 water chamber once when it developed a film on it that I couldn't remove.... once. It has been a year since then, and I won't get another. Sometimes stuff happens in spite of regular cleaning and the use of distilled water. I'm about to replace my worn out headgear though. It is a...

Re: Insurance change- mid rent to own period

When I started with new insurance I had three months to go on my rent-to-own period, and the transition was seamless. No hassles whatever; the new insurance picked it up for the last 3 months. Thus, I'd say find out from your insurance how they will handle it. BUT you've already assumed the worst an...
