Travel to Asia
Travel to Asia
Hi ! I am travelling to Cambodia and Vietnam soon. I have been told that I don't need to take the humidifier for my S9 Resmed cpap machine. Has anyone had experience with my query that they may be able to pass on to me? With thanks, Jay

Whether your accommodations will have air conditioning will probably be a big factor. With a/c, the humidity will likely drop to be similar to home. Without a/c, then yes the humidity could possibly enough, especially if you use a low setting. Either way I'd try at home without the humidifier for at least a few nights in a row. If it was me, I'd take it either way, as the carrying case is a set size whether it has the humidifier or not (and I wouldn't take it without the carrying case or something equivalent for padding, and it doesn't count towards checked baggage for U.S. airlines anyways...double check the rules for the airline you are flying). Plus I can't seem to get enough humidity. You'll also want to check if you can use it in-flight. Have a great trip! Best wishes.

I don't use a humidifier so can't help per se. Note, Cambodia and most of Vietnam (except northern provinces from jan-February) is hot and humid so I assume you'll sleep with a/c. D o use humidifier in the summer wen you turn on a/c? If so, bring along.
Hand carrying and don't check your cpap unit. If you're n biz class, should be able to use In-flight. Sme airlines require pre-clearance.

I've found it certainly depends how humid your sleeping conditions are. During our recent holiday to Canadian Rockies (where air is very dry), I decided to travel without humidifier and started getting slight nosebleed after a few days. Had to go several nights without machine to allow nose to sort itself out.

Thank you to those kind folk who gave me advice I am from Australia and will travel with the humidifier just in case! I don't need to use my machine on board air flights. I was going to buy a ResMed Transcend CPap machine but have decided to keep my money and spend it on my holiday so I will take my existing S9 machine + humidifier... can't do without it nowadays!! Even MY snoring wakes me!!! Cheers and thank you.. J

Even if you don't use the humidifier for its intended purpose, I find it does help keep the noise level down on the machine (like a silencer on a motor vehicle). I would take it with me, then if I had troubles with dryness I would not be wishing I had it!
