Phillips pros 1auto vs resmed s9auto

Post by Tango » Tue Sep 02, 2014 8:00 am

Today is the day I have to choose. I haven't really received a lot of insight into my choices but a few of you have directed me towards these two. I was going to get the resmed airsense but woke up this morning thinking I won't. Not sure what data it collects?? Also, it's new in the way it works. The respironics had the swivel ....I like that. But I am leaning towards resmed. I don't know why. The sales person says my doc likes the respironics? I don't know why?
So, now it's the prs1 auto vs the resmed s9 auto.
Pros and cons?
All thoughts and opinions are GREATLY appreciated. I meet with the sales people this afternoon.
I will be sleeping with my new machine tonight. Yea!!

I went with S9 back in June, based on "votes" of the majority of my friends using CPAP but it was close. I think I'd go for the S10 right now though, it looks good and the company knows what they're doing. This board seems to have a majority of PR users, though.

Fwiw I love my S9, but just a reminder if you go that route, make sure it's an AutoSET, and avoid the Escape Auto.

As near as I can tell the quality of the therapy is very similar between the two brands. I am happy I ended up with the PRS1 560 because the 12v supply is more battery friendly, the low price is a factor if you're buying an identical spare, and the 560 seems to have better data and sd handling. Without humidifiers the S10 is much larger making it harder to travel "light." (With humidifiers the machines are closer in size with the S9 having an edge.) Although some say the S9 is quieter, both of my 560's are essentially silent if the humidifier is used. (Without the muffling of the humidifier, there's a bit of Darth Vader noise in the hose.)

These features may not mean much to you, and of course I've chosen to be blind to any advantages of the S9, but you can't go wrong with any of these devices.

Funny. I always thought it was the other way round.

About the A10 data. It is likely to be similar to S9 with extra flags for CSD and RERA (if for her). It certainly won't have less.

Looking around today, the tide may have turned to S9s.

There is a substantial cost differential; which may tip the scales toward the P/R.
I really like the color display on my S9 AutoSet, and the AS10 Autoset for her has an even larger screen.
I'm so excited I can't stand it! (Mine is coming!!)

There is no "S10." Do you mean S9 or AirSense 10 (A10).

There's an AirSense 10 "CPAP" model and an AirSense 10 "Elite" model. Avoid the base "CPAP" model. It looks like the A10 Elite model has much better data than the A10 CPAP.

Personally I went with the PR series 60 auto aflex with heated tube. Insurance would pay the same so cost didnt mattter. I did like swivel for the hose the software upgrade and the PR not being as finicky about the SD card being locked or not when putting it in a pc .

Both are great machines.

My rep called and said the resmed airsense Autoset is on back order. So, I have another week to decide. But, I will probably go with the a10 Autoset by resmed. Hopefully others will write about the experience they have when they get the new cpap
Thx

I chose the PR based on the fact that I go rafting & camping "off the grid" quite a bit, and will be running off batteries. The PR is more battery friendly. other than that knowledge, I was totally clueless to the features & attributes of any of the machines.
