American sleep association kit

Post by Tango » Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:21 am

Anyone ever hear of this. It fits in the mouth and adjust your jaw?
I'm new so perhaps it's been around and been refuted? Or maybe not.

Hi Tango,

I would go to http://www.apneasupport.org/sleep-apnea ... n-f20.html and ask Dr. Luisi, the sleep medicine dentist, if there is any research on this. I seriously doubt it but he is good about answering these types of questions so you have nothing to lose.

I'm not familiar that exact device, but there are similar devices that can work. I got a SomnoMed oral appliance a while ago. It works by pulling the jaw forward. It can replace CPAP for some people. In my case, it allowed me to lower my pressure from 17 to 13, but I still needed CPAP. I used it for 6 months before I decided that keeping it clean was too much hassle. There must be some clinical evidence to support it because my insurance company was willing to pay for it (and it wasn't cheap).
