Try to low my AHI.

Post by william_cpap » Fri Aug 29, 2014 4:29 pm

Hi I am a newbie, I have been used Intellipap AutoAdjust machine for a week, and my AHI average is 10 .

The following is my cpap setting:
1) Auto mode.
2) Pressure range 8 to 15.
3) Humidifier set to 3.

Usage Data from cpap after a week:
95th Percentile Pressure:14.0
90th Percentile Pressure:12.0
AHI:10.0
Pressure Plateau Time:1%
High Leak Flow Time:0%
NRI:1.50
EPI:0

And here is my question, I would like to switch from Auto Mode to cpap mode to see it can help to low my AHI or not, and set the pressure to 8, this number is from my prescription or should I set the pressure to 14 base on 95th Percentile Pressure from cpap data.

Thanks

William.

a lot would depend on why your ahi is so high, hypopneas, obstructive apneas (in those cases, more pressure is usually needed) or centrals (in which case, less pressure may be needed).

can you get more detail?

My case is obstructive apneas. I don't know why my sleep study reports my pressure to 8 and my cpap can go up to 14 for 95th Percentile Pressure?

Have you considered that you could be mouth breathing while asleep and losing all the Cpap air that way? The machine can't always score that leak-wise if the leak is too large and you might want to think about a full face mask.

Thank Julie, I am using the chinstrap to avoid my mouth breathing while asleep, the face mask may be better idea to me.

And it seems like I had better sleep last night, when I switched to CPAP mode with pressure to 8. And the AHI on screen is 6 in this morning. I known that 6 is still not normal but it has been improved!
