SleepyHead Time Zone change question

Post by photonic » Wed Aug 27, 2014 8:56 pm

Greetings. I will be traveling to Europe for an extended trip. Currently my SH is set for my local time zone. If I change the time zone once I get to Europe, will it change the time data for all the data that occurred in my home time zone also? Or, will it just time stamp for the new zone for just the days I will be in that new zone.

In other words, will changing the time zone mess up the previous data in SleepyHead?

Thanks for the help.

the actual data is saved as GMT with a PR machine.

Yes I know, but I would like to know how SleepyHead handles a temporary change of time zone.

eh, I *think* sleepyhead actually pays attention to the timezone set in the profile, not so much the computer time.

it doesn't have per day timezone settings.... so it'll end up looking like you went to sleep and woke up really early while you're in europe

If you are even a tiny bit confused now--don't change anything.

The time zone affects the entire reports...not just from when you made the time zone change. It will mess up your old reports.

2 Options.
1....leave things alone and don't mess with clock on the machine or SH time zone and while times will be "off" in real life they will look consistent.
2....make a second user profile while you are on your trip ...set that profile for the new time zone . Keep the 2 profiles separate.
It's messes with usage hours but that's less of a mess than having all your old report times messed up.

Be careful with the clock on the S9...it won't let you go backwards if there is any chance of any data being in that going back time.
Going forward with the S9 clock is easy...going back not so easy...I suggest that people make any changes to the clock on the S9 well after 12 noon per the clock on the S9.

ahhhh, Pugsy you're great. Always a knowledgeable answer. I guess I will leave well enough alone for my trip and just deal with the weird time stamps. I am going to be away for month. Thanks again

For travel I think it is easy to just note that you are traveling and deal with the offset, that is what I do - it just looks funny if you look at the times.

How about when you move? Say to move 2 timezone. I guess the only option today is to create a new profile with the new timezone. It sure would be nice to be able to change it.

Agreed! Perhaps a feature request for the update!?!?
