RedMed9 BPAP: What are Trigger and Cycle Settings?

Post by CoffeePgh » Fri Aug 29, 2014 5:53 am

Any idea what these mean? My choices are: Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Very High.

Default setting is Medium. After months of recording, I think I've found my good EPAP setting. Now I'm trying to refine it. I still have not dropped below that magical AHI=5 score!

Thanks.

simple, trigger is how sensitive the machine is to your starting to inhale, and TRIGGERing the switch to ipap.

cycle is how sensitive it is to your starting to exhale, and CYCLING back to epap.

I noticed that sometimes my airway would start to close off and I could see little attempts at inhale on the flow graph, but no corresponding increase in pressure on the mask pressure, so I increased the trigger setting so that it could help me in those instances by going to ipap... seems to have helped, or, maybe I just think it did.

high of course means more sensitive, low, less sensitive.

and, I believe you mean "Vpap".

Perfect answer. Thank you. Switching to Very High to see what happens.

And you're correct -- VPAP, it is.
