First Dr's visit with machine

Post by Isabel » Thu Aug 28, 2014 6:46 pm

I am going to see my primary Dr. for the first time since getting the machine. I am not sure what to ask. They have yet to go over the results of the test (so I want to have that information given to me) but what else should I ask.

if you haven't done so, ask for a copy of your sleep studies. Also ask for a copy of your prescriptions.

If you don't have the software installed so you can run your own reports:
and you are bringing your machine ( only if the doctor asks you to ) ask if they can create a report from the machine data. If not, then bring just the SD card and ask the same thing.
Ask if the settings seem to be correct after this period of time.

Be sure to bring up the issues of your skin tenderness and ask for suggestions on how to deal with it. It won't hurt to mention that you are temporizing with Lanisoh cream.

Are you having any mask fit issues, if so bring them up.

I find it helps to make a written list of questions and issues as sometimes I forget to ask about things and then the visit is over.

I would have asked for a copy of the sleep study and RX's be sent to you before your appointment. Normally this can be done via email. You might need to send them a signed release for it but that is easy. It is a lot easier to review it on your own and formulate questions before you are sitting in front of the DR.

Also, I would compile data from your machine, especially if you have questions about issues you are having at night, and save it in PDF format. Send that to your Dr's office so they have the info before the appointment to review (if they will that is).

For me, Most of my PCP's were not all that interested in the results. My new PCP is great though and reviewed my folder for new entries and knew before she saw me what was going on.

More time asking and getting answers and less time spent reading what the reports show and trying to come up with questions on the fly.
