Maybe, from his previous post, .......... , it looks like he's running in the auto mode (4-8) and the machine is holding him around 6? He said he increased the pressure to 8, but I wonder if that was just the max pressure. As you often suggest, maybe it's time for him to switch to straight CPAP? His nightly charts would be helpful.
Thanks Jay.

I missed that. Anyway, I THINK a bit more pressure (minimum or whatever) might be warranted to see if it makes a difference.

All,
I've been on a fixed 6cm since I started on cpap a year ago. I complained to sleep doc last December that I was still fuzzy and was told my numbers look good and see you in a year.
Maybe its time for a new Doc. I just turned my pressure up to 8 after seeing suggestions here on the board. Its to early to tell as its only been a few days.
I am working with a rep from medical device company I get my equipment from. She is looking at numbers and working with Doc to get RX change.

Interesting point about co2 and pressure. I'll have to ask about that.
I'm just really fatigued and so tired of being in this fog 24/7.
If I exercise the fog gets worse. I often while sitting feel this sensation throughout my nervous system, hard to explain but have a few twitches with it.
Its like nervous zingers sorta. Can feel it in my throat too. Maybe anxiety? I did quit smoking about 4-5 months ago. I picked a bad time to quit smoking...lol

Also vision has been messed up ever since fog hit 4yrs ago.
Eyes feel crudy. I guess sleep issues can make eyes feel funny.

Yes, i have this too. I've been on CPAP for nearly 3 years now and it has improved my fatigue a little but i can still sleep 16 hours a day if left to my own devices. I've had 5 sleep studies and 3 mslt's during this time all with mixed results. Basically, it seems that i have fragmented sleep with no obvious causes. The sleep studies showed that i have arousals as soon as i go into REM sleep so i never get any restful sleep.

My sleep stats are all good - below 1 on most nights and sometimes even zero on the odd night.

I've seen 2 sleep docs. One ended up saying i have EDS (Excessive Daytime Sleepiness) and gave me dexamphetamines. These were great for a while - i was really awake for the first time in my life. As i also have anxiety and depression, these meds ended up making my anxiety worse so i had to come off them.

Second sleep dr suggested Modafinil and gave me some samples. Haven't tried them yet but have heard positive things. Also seeing Psychiatrist fortnightly to see if the anxiety and depression is behind the sleep issues. No firm conclusions yet. Just have to live with it....

As I posted earlier, many things can cause fatigue, including heart disease. Maybe it's time for a trip to your cardiologist just to rule that out.

I use modafinil (provigil) when I need too. 100mg seems to do the trick, 200mg will keep you going until bedtime.
It works to keep your brain awake but you can tell difference when your body gets tired. There is a separation there.
The meds doesnt clear the fuzzy fog I have in my head though.
I've been to cartiologist and had stress test, all was good.

Well depression and anxiety can be caused by lack of sleep from what I've read.

I just hope I can get rid of the fog. I can deal with some fatigue in the afternoon but this fog is getting old.

Taking 5-htp, melatonin, coq10, krill oil, aspirin,...
Are you still taking the melatonin? If so, what dose? Take any other meds?

You really need to figure out how to post an image of a detailed report so we can see what you are seeing.
Also starting multiple threads with the same issue is confusing because we don't know what has been said in the past.
You have a least one other thread with same problem.

Good point Pugsy melatonin has been know to cause you to be groggy the next day.
I have terminal brain cloud due to ADD, I'm only good once my adderal kicks in.
I also want you to check your house for carbon monoxide leaks if you have gas appliances.
Increased brain cloud due to exercise seems like a cardiac issue excessive blockage but not a Dr, what do I know?
Good luck hope you find what the cause is

A good point about CO but its not just gas overheating cast iron heat exchangers wood and solid fuel can also give off CO - just check for it regardless.

Edit mixing my CO and CO2

I get foggy if I don't get enough sleep.

I had an issue with a tingling (or slightly numb) sensation on some parts of one side of my face, soemtimes scalp. It was also accompanied by a foggy sensation at times. MRI and other tests showed no issues. It was ruled to be migranes. Migranes do not always cause pain although I did have painful, seasonal migranes when I was a kid/teen.

You are using RDI instead of AHI and even with plugging in the RERAs it isn't all that remarkable.

You are using fixed cpap mode with pressure of 6..is that correct?
In fixed CPAP mode the Flow limitation flagging is turned off. So the absence of Flow Limitation events on the graph doesn't mean much. We don't know if they aren't there because you didn't have them or because you had a bunch of them but the machine doesn't flag them.

You have to be in APAP mode to get Flow Limitation data. You have a little snoring and RERAs showing up..not huge but you may also have some Flow limitations also but we can't see them on this report. I don't know if those are impacting your sleep quality or not...don't know if reducing them would make you feel like you want to feel because I don't know why you have the fuzzy head and fatigue.

Nothing on this report screams out "fix me".

Since you have a PR S1 machine you need to change the red line in the leak graph to around 80 L/min. That red line at 24 L/min is for the S9 machines.
Your leaks are no where close to large leak territory.

Sleep dr is taking my fixed pressure up to 8 to see how I respond to that.
I did notice that the mask was fitting better as the seal was full so to speak do to higher pressure.
However it was a rocky night with lots of wakeups. Boy this is so frustrating and slow in trial and error.
I do have hope as I remember the fog reduced 2 months after I started the cpap. Just here of late has gotten worse.
I also quit smoking 4-5 months ago and put a few more pounds on that could have lead to worse sleep quality.
I don't know as so much of this is subjective.....
But thanks for looking at my numbers...
Will post more after a few nights at 8cm.
