beep

Post by Ishtar » Wed Aug 20, 2014 4:29 am

It's too early. I'm exhausted. I wish I was asleep. However, after getting up to go to the bathroom this morning (disconnected the hose and ran, rather than turning the machine off as I usually do, the mask alert did start it's continuous beeping), after I reconnected and laid back down, my machine started beeping a single beep about every 3 minutes it seemed, i'm not really sure as I didn't time it. I turned the machine off then back on again, but it continued. I have every intention of changing it to silent mode when my husband is awake and I can turn the light on without disturbing him, but my concern is there is something wrong with it that it isn't telling me. Has anyone had this issue?

This sounds like a firmware problem that got started when the mask alert happened.
So, try turning the machine off, then unplug the power cord and wait a few minutes (just a couple), then plug it back in and see it this resolves the problem. Unplugging and replugging in causes the firmware in the machine to reboot (restart itself) and should clear any residual problems.

If that doesn't work, its time to call the DME for a service check.

if it happens again, check the display.

Also, if you have your user manual for the machine, there's a section in the back that lists the meaning for all the different types of beeps the machine issues. If this is a warning beep of some sort, setting the machine into "silent" mode won't necessarily silence this beep. I have my machine set in silent mode so it doesn't beep when I turn it on or off but it still beeps to signal when I pop the SD card out.

Well I went to test and troubleshoot, as 20 min later no beep. I guess it corrected itself. I would have felt better if a power cycle had been involved, but keeping my fingers crossed..... And turning off the mask alarm.

Glad to hear it worked out. Perhaps it was one of pugsy's aliens that got loose

Was there a message on the screen when it was beeping?

you can pull the sd card out and put it in your computer,

on the sd card, (I'm sorry, i'm not sure exactly where it is in the file structure) there's a 'e' directory.

in that are files that end with .004

if you zip those up and email them to me, (pm me for an email address) I can try and decode them, and find out if it logged an error.

our friend jedimark is currently thinking about how he can add a feature to sleepyhead to automatically do this for prs1 machines

It was too dark to see if there was a message on the screen, it doesn't light up. And palerider if it happens again I'll definitely try that! Thanks!

If/when there is a message on the LCD there would be a beeping to attract the users attention. I would also expect the LCD to be backlite to be legible.

Of course you could test this by turning the mask alarm on and aND CREATING A LARGE LEAK.

I know you supposedly fixed the problem, but if it comes back or if other folks have that beeping problem with PR machines try this: Using whatever internet browser you like, and using whatever search engine you like (Google works best IMO) enter the exact phrase below into the search window. (Don't use the internal CPAPtalk search window - it's junk)

site:cpaptalk.com beeping PR

There's a ton of info there. Other CPAP forums also have more info and different approaches.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
