I gave up on trying to adjust my Res Med to work on auto. Just to many arousals. I have revertted to using my best pressure on simple CPAP mode. The trouble is the machine seems to blast the air in and it causes the seals on my mask to lose contact leading to my fighting with my mask and leaks all night.
When I breathe in, if the inhale is jerky at all the machine blows the air in a jerky manner too. It seems I have to breathe slowly and steadily to get a Smooth air flow. I never had this problem with my Phillips machine. Is there a setting I can change that will change this air flow quality? It is difficult to keep a steady air flow while I am asleep. Thanks.

What specific ResMed machine are you using?...what mask are you using?...What is your pressure? Please register and fill in your equipment profile. How long have you been on CPAP?

Re: Air blasts causing frequent mask leaks. need seeing advice
It is the Rest Med S9 auto. I bought it used so I could send off my PR for repairs. My pressure is 12.5 and I use the Q air mask. It has not been a problem in the past till I changed machines. I have been on CPAP for two years. I am not used to the way this machine blasts the air in or the jerky ness of it either. I thought there might be a setting that could soften the air flow. BTW I am registered but I may not be logged in. I am a new bid to the forum. Sorry.
Re: Air blasts causing frequent mask leaks. need seeing advice
I have a Resmed S9 Elite, and I noticed something like what you described.
When I have the humidifer attached, the air delivery is very smooth and even.
But when I detached the humidifier and used just the blower side, the air delivery
felt very choppy and uneven and uncomfortable.
It seems to me that the volume of air inside the humidifier has a smoothing effect.
So, I leave the humidifier attached but not turned on.

Re: Air blasts causing frequent mask leaks. need seeing advice
If the top pressure is too high, the s9 will "chase" the proper pressure, so you need to keep your top figure more in line with the 12.5 - like 14 or so. Try adjusting your EPR to smooth out the delivery, up or down.

Re: Air blasts causing frequent mask leaks. need seeing advice
Thank you for the suggestions. I have the humidifier attached. I could change the epr. It is at 3. Would I take it up or down to smooth out the flow?
Re: Air blasts causing frequent mask leaks. need seeing advice
3 is the max, so you can only reduce it from theretwdc33 wrote:Thank you for the suggestions. I have the humidifier attached. I could change the epr. It is at 3. Would I take it up or down to smooth out the flow?
