Exhale relief

Post by Greg Riddle » Fri Aug 15, 2014 8:03 pm

Fairly new cpap. I have a resmed s9 escape. I have been thinking about the exhale pressure relief. Is it possible that the machine cannot be effective enough with the epr on. I turned it off 2 days ago and have felt better. Ha anyone else had a similar issue

unfortunately, your machine doesn't give you any data to show how well it's working...

but, yes, if your set pressure is borderline what you need, for example 10, and you turn epr to 3, then it drops your pressure to 7, except when you inhale. and 7 might not be enough to keep your airway open.

the whole purpose of epr is to make it easier for some people to exhale, so if you don't feel you need it to breath ok, then there's absolutely no harm in turning it off.

After turning off exhale relief I felt a little better but not much. Turned up the pressure from 13 to 13.6 little better after 5 days at 13.6, I went to 14.2 last night. Wow did I feel good today

Please post your equipment in your profile. Are you on straight cpap or autopap therapy?
