Why CPAP over APAP?
So after years of using a straight CPAP machine that really wasn't helping me much at all, I switched to an APAP machine, and things are finally so much better. My pressure is down around 7.5 for 95% of the night, whereas my straight CPAP machine was set much higher. I sleep so much better these day...

Re: New and "hate" the noise from my REMstar...
I can only comment on what I have used, but I have the DevilBiss Intellipap APAP machine and I love it. It's so quiet that it's almost silent. It's about the same sound as a gentle breeze. It also tracks data. If you want quiet, that's one machine you could consider

Re: Why is it necessary to have a support team?
The title of this thread is bang on! I don't have any support at all. I've never had someone explain anything to me. I've been on my own since day 1. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and only in the last 48 hours have I truly and finally understood everything I need to know to properly manage my sleep ap...

Pressure has dropped a lot
I had my pressure checked by an automated machine loaned to me by a sleep doctor. According to them, my pressure should be set to 12. That was roughly 1.5 years ago. I just recently learned how to check my data with the smart code on my Intellipap. Yesterday, my 95th percentile was at my minimum, 9....

Re: Snoring, is it working?
The smart link module is necessary for putting the information on the SD card to be used by computer software. No module...no software use. Otherwise a person is limited to the smart code data. Thanks. I bought this machine recently and am very annoyed I have to spend another $150 just to get data ...

Re: Snoring, is it working?
The pressure I was told I need is 12, so I set my machine to a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 20. I would raise the minimum to 10. If you need 12 and the machine is running at 8, you may be having events and snoring before the machine can get the pressure up to 12. I see you have intended to raise t...

Re: Snoring, is it working?
Shaner, your machine is compatible with the Sleepyhead software http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH2/ You should download and install (extract) the program and use it to evaluate your therapy efficacy. There may be a correlation between snoring, and the pressure at which it occurs most frequently. The sam...

Re: Snoring, is it working?
My pressure is 12, and I have the machine set to 8-20 This is a contradictory statement. Please clarify. I was snoring loudly for about 30 minutes even though it didn't appear I had any leaks. Your minimum pressure is probably set too low. Properly adjusted CPAP should eliminate snoring. The pressu...

Snoring, is it working?
I have the Devilbliss Intellipap APAP machine. My pressure is 12, and I have the machine set to 8-20. My AHI (at least according to my machine) varies quite a bit, but it's almost always under 5. How accurate is that? The other night my girlfriend was awake much later than me and she said I was snor...

Re: How to change my pressure range
Thanks Julie. I'm going to maybe try a range of 9 - 15. Is that a good range if my pressure should be set to 12, or should I go with a more narrow range, such as 9-12?

Re: How to change my pressure range
Another question. My last machine didn't keep any stats whatsoever. According to my new machine, my AHI was 8.5. Is that a typical number for those of us with apnea, or do I want to get that lower? I know under 5 is normal, but will those of us with apnea get under 5 even with a machine? How do I ge...

How to change my pressure range
So I've been on a standard CPAP machine for about 5 years and I've found over the last couple years that I'm just not sleeping well with it. I decided to buy an auto machine. According to my doctor, my pressure should be set to 12. So when I purchased the new machine, she had the manufacturer/store ...

Re: I'm losing the CPAP battle
Thanks for the offer pugsy, but I have congestion issues so I'm naturally a mouth breather. Nasal pillows don't really work for me, not consistently anyway. I tried that at first and some nights were okay, but other nights I would breath through my mouth all night long, even with something holding m...

Re: I'm losing the CPAP battle
What mask do you use now? How old is it? How often do you clean it with either very mild baby soap or mask wipes? And have you not tried other masks for a better fit? In what position do you sleep? Have you tried a Pap Pillow (google them or search here under the logo) I use the Mirage Liberty mask...
