Wow, thanks a lot for some encouraging feedback. I am really amazed at what I'm learning out there from published medical studies and papers.
Even if nothing comes out of this I will have leaned more about this condition I have and the treatment.

[quote="kennethryan"]I went about a year without cleaning my hose, and only occasionally cleaning my humidifier tank. I only use distilled water (even on travel, I stop somewhere and pick up a bottle for the hotel). Until one day I happened to peer closely at my humidifier tank and saw a black spind...

Thanks for the tips to date. I have been researching most of the day and found several interesting medical articles including one where a child got a ruptured colon from chronic aerophagia. Others cautioning about how the colon is susceptible to ruptures from pneumatic distension. And another that s...

Need Your Story to Get APAP!
As before, I am caught in the middle of a doctor and DME who do not get along. After not getting anywhere I have an appointment with the doc Monday AM to settle it. I read another post that I cannot find where the member wrote a letter to his doc and.or the doc wrote a letter justifying the APAP and...

We like the foamy hand soap dispensers so when one was empty, I put my generic shampoo in it and diluted to the same consistency that the hand soap was. Now when I wash my mask every night I put just a smidgen on a damp wash cloth and wipe the mask seal. Rise the wash cloth and wipe again and it's r...

I think since it has been this long and the first machine is paid for you will probably not get another machine. I purchased my own M series auto with a/flex through cpap.com so now I have the original as a backup but my insurance would not have paid for it even if I got my Dr. to write me a script...

Thanks for your quick replies. Tomorrow I need to call Respironics and get their answer directly and the name that gives it. Then when I talk with the DME, let her tell me what she discovered as a test. Frankly I hope she passes as I like her and want an honest long-term (professional!!) relationshi...

Drinking Air?
I've had the air swallow thing all my life and pretty much had to tolerate it. I knew others did not have the problem but did workarounds. However, now that I'm on CPAP it is unbearable. I just got a script for an auto machine and truely hope it works. The chin straps simply do not keep my mouth shu...

Compatable? F&P HC150 + Respironics Auto M w/ AFlex
I finally convinced my doc to write a Respironics REMstar Auto M with A-Flex and a Fisher & Paykel HC150 humidifier. After some explanation, the DME appears to be working with me and raised a good point. Is the one compatable with the other? I see on the F&P site that they list a few units not compa...

I'm new here, so my vote shouldn't count for much, but... I visit several interest forums and I like multiple master threads. For here, you might see: .. Equipment .. Medical .. DME/Insurance/Medicare .. NewUserQuestions .. Library? Just my thoughts, but as a relatively new user coming into this for...

This has convinced me to rush my new sleep study and get new equipment prior to turning 65 May 2nd. I thought I was doing a good thing and let my insurance company off the hook but they are so accommodating that I'm sure I'd get whatever the doc said. By the way, when I pushed the point of getting a...

Good information, thanks. Resperionics: The DME told me their water tanks can be leaky. I'd think they would have fixed this by now - how hard can that be? Lets say the tank doesn't leak. Does the Respironics last a long time? How about noise levels? BiPAP: There's a lot I do not understand about th...
