Re: New F&P full face mask ("Simplus")
Wouldn't work for me at all. My masks seem to slip down in the night and in fact have tied my Forma forehead straps together to make it go over the top. That with the chin cup on the Forma helps keep my mouth shut and a better sleep. When I used the Quattro I had the straps so tight it really hurt b...

Re: Replace Machine Time
If you have used your machine 80K+ hours in 5 years you must live in another dimension or have several people using the machine at the same time. 80K hours in 5 years means using it almost 44 hours per day. You probably meant 8K+ hours which is more likely. If the machine works OK and serves its pu...

Re: Replace Machine Time
Thanks for the timely and excellent feedback. I have until May so will check back before my appointment. I have a deal with my doc and he will write the specific machine and components including model numbers to keep the DME squared away, although I believe that wouldn't be an issue with my current ...

Replace Machine Time
My how time flies, it's 5 years and 80K+ hours coming up on my AutoM machine in May. It still seems to work okay but I'm concerned it may wear out and cause problems before too long. Is the "PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex" the machine to buy? I want to stick with Respironics/Phi...

Re: Another Battery Option
Uh, okay, I'm not sure what to do with this one, so I think I'll leave it alone.
EDIT: There was a spam in between this and my prior post and it was appropriately deleted.

Re: Another Battery Option
Been on the Costco battery unit for about 3 weeks now and it's working terrific. I think it has a thingy that will convert AC to DC and feed it directly out the cigar plug adapter port. The battery level never goes down and the battery charge light never turns on. Well, except I unplugged it from AC...

Re: Sore throat....is it possible for CPAP to cause it?
XPAP can definitely cause a sore throat as I can attest. I set my humidifier by the throat condition as seasons change. Low humidity in the winter when the air is driest = sore throat without fail.

Re: I Almost Died Today
David: I'm okay and yes O2 is critical for me. My original sleep study showed me in the mid 80's with dips into the 70's down to 75 at one point. The follow ups since have me consistently in the 90's. Granny: I don't have anything in particular to base it on. I thought I'd wake myself up if it were ...

I Almost Died Today
I get tired more easily the past years and often lay down simply to rest for a few minutes. Usually I put on my mask even though I don't sleep. Today I didn't bother and some time later I jerked awake with a huge gasp like someone who almost drowned. My head was splitting in what I recognized as oxy...

Re: Another Battery Option
I'm on my 3rd jump start type of battery backup. The first was from Harbor Freight and it couldn't recharge enough during the day to keep it going all night. I exchanged it for a new one of the same but no joy so I returned it and just bought the Costco version thinking to was the one Gumby has. Now...

Re: pain!
I'm not too familiar with your previous posts, how'd that affect your AHI, OldLincoln? Going from CPAP to APAP didn't change much with AHI, at least not that I remember. Since starting therapy my AHI has been between 3-4. I haven't concerned myself much with the HI component looking at them as apne...

Re: pain!
I guess if forced air is being pushed in our lungs then perhaps a little discomfort will happen. Actually air is not "forced" into the lungs with the basic cpap/apap machines. To do that would require ventilator force. Now the ASV machines will act like a ventilator and deliver a burst of pressure ...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....
Enjoy the Sundae, Lincoln. I hope you wear it well If I could have one I sure WOULD enjoy it. By itself it wouldn't affect my old manish physic, but alas, I'm a sticky rice and chicken/fish guy. Not bragging at all that my numbers all look really good so I can get away with it for now (and likely h...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....
No way I'm going to read 300+ posts to answer the "Good Calories, Bad Calories" issue. It's simple: Hot fudge Sunday = GOOD calories, Brussels Sprouts = BAD calories!

Re: APAP vs. CPAP
I made the argument somewhere above that the retail cost of APAPs should drop to that of CPAPs if all they made were APAPs on the basis that if a steady single pressure was warranted they could always set the APAP to CPAP mode, but not reversed. The basis is that the mfg supply chain is simpler as w...
