Getting rid of these RERAs

Post by TheChuckster » Fri Aug 01, 2014 12:48 pm

Subjectively, the last part of the night is extremely unrestful sleep. Objectively, my SleepyHead data shows there are a lot of RERA events (which makes sense because my AHI is still < 2). I think the last hour or so of my sleep is getting fragmented by these RERAs because I feel unrested.

Also, often (but probably unrelated) I wake up for an hour in the middle of the night for inexplicable reasons (hence the gap between 6 AM and 7 AM).

Still waiting for my sleep study results back from Stanford. They increased my pressure from 14 CPAP to 16-18 APAP.

What's the best way to get rid of these RERAs? Should I push my min pressure up to 17? It's odd that the machine's APAP algorithm isn't reacting to these RERAs by increasing the pressure.

It's not odd at all: Those RERAs are isolated events and the PR System One APAP is programmed to increase the pressure in response to RERAs, Hs, and OAs only if there are two or more events that are scored very close together---as in no more than 2 minutes apart.

What's odd about your pressure curve to my eyes is that there is only one "Search Algorithm" sawtooth for the entire night. Usually that Search Algorithm does a test pressure increase about every 10 minutes or so when there's nothing going on.

Do you usually have totally flat looking pressure curves without the traditional PR Auto algorithms sawtooths?

I zoomed in specifically on the part of the night with the RERAs so I expect fewer test pressure sawtooths to show up in that subset of the waveform.

Can you give us the original daily detailed report image that isn't zoomed in to the time in question with the increased RERAs?
So that we can see what the pressure does in general over the night.
