pigment bleachout from cpap mask strap covers

Post by glomck » Fri Aug 01, 2014 3:58 pm

I have been using my CPAP since Dec. of 2011. I use the nose pads. I have been using the soft covers for the straps on my nose pillows. I have lost pigment in my skin along a line where the straps hit my cheeks. I do not have the straps real tight and I don't have indentations in the morning in my cheeks. But I have an almost white line where it looks like a lot of the pigment has faded on my cheeks where the straps hit. Does anyone else have this? What can I do about it?

I haven't any idea... but it might be a good idea to stop using the strap liners.

That sounds like a mild allergic reaction.
Have you talked to your (or a) dermatologist about this?

Unfortunately, like you, the original poster ("OP") was not a registered forum member and therefore is not going to get any notification that there have been any further inquiries or answers to their original post. It's a good probability that they are no longer following the thread or the forum. So, your inquiry is falling on "deaf ears", so to speak.

The original comment was more complaint than query, I suspect.
Registering means you expect an answer, try that.
The answer might be found in a skin disorder forum, if there is one.

My first thought to the non deaf ears...simply the area being gently and repeatedly rubbed for a long period of time. Faster cellular turnover in that area.
