How is guest and Ham7137? I have OSA, on supplementary 02. Did overnight recording pulse oximeter last night wearing the oxygen bled in to the hose. I got 30 02 desaturation events (although 02 remained above 90) and 120 pulse events. I am on apap range 8-14 currently.

Anyone know what the 120 pulse events might mean?????

Thread is over 2 years old so it is doubtful that OP or responder is still around. I haven't seen them post anything in ages.

Pulse events are just changes in pulse rate within the parameters of whatever change triggers the "pulse event". I don't remember how much of a change is required to be flagged as an event. So your pulse rate changed 120 times...some changes are normal and occur with various sleep stages. Some changes might be in response to sleep apnea events and/or associated drops in oxygen...and subsequent increases.
So increases in pulse as well as decreases within recording parameters will get flagged as a "pulse event".
One would need to correlate data from the cpap/apap machine to see if the changes were maybe related to sleep apnea events.

Thank you for the info, Pugsy! A pulse event is a change in rate by at least 6 bpm for a minimum duration of 8 seconds. A desaturation event is defined as a drop in Sp02 by at least 4% for a minimum duration of 10 seconds.

Time in Sp02events was 22.3 min and the average event duration was 44.7. Time in events for pulse was 64.7 minutes and average event duration was 32.3. I am on oxygen when I sleep.

I need to gather more information, but thanks again for the info.

Wow, this is great info! I had an at-home overnight pulse ox about a week ago. Found out Monday that I dropped below 90% about 25% of the time. I have a sleep study in three weeks. I hate to wait that long! I had one years ago that showed nothing so I did not think sleep apnea was my problem. I am exhausted almost to the point of doing nothing. As someone posted, dragging from the bed to the couch many days and definitely not enough energy to exercise!
However, I have CHF which is controlled by a pacemaker/defibrillator/cardioverter and meds. I hope this is not just a symptom of that and can be fixed. My cardiologist says it's not my heart nor my heart meds causing my fatigue, but I'm reading here that my CHF could be causing the sleep apnea. Interesting.
