Breathing in air into stomache

Post by acjune » Tue Jul 29, 2014 12:59 pm

Help, I have been woken up every other night with pain in my stomach from air getting in my stomach. I can actually feel it going in.

What am I doing wrong? I have been using it okay and then this started recently.

Hi, it's called aerophagia, and is quite common here. You can do a forum search on it and get lots of hits, but often just lowering your low pressure setting by just a very little bit can help... just be sure you're not affecting therapy (do you keep track of your AHI with software?).

Try and update your equipment (under profile) and tell us more about your history, pressure etc with CPAP. This forum is full of folks willing and able to help. I have learned so much in a few short weeks here.

I have this issue as well. Do you find it's worse on nights that your mask leaks more?

I've just been lowered from auto 4-20 to auto 4-10 by my ENT Doc. Well, that's what the DME changed it to when I uploaded data anyway...

That sounds fine - does your machine have any way of setting exhale pressure reduction? That helped me.
