This might not work for every couple, but I toss it out here for whatever it's worth. If your wife is substantially shorter than you, it might help for her to scoot a little closer to the foot of the bed, so that instead of being face to face, her head is more level with your shoulder and neck. That's not a bad way to cuddle, and done right, it leaves the Quattro exhaust plume passing harmlessly over the top of her head. I have field tested this approach and found it to be a win-win.

There was a nasal pillows mask made by Aeiomed called the Headrest that vents straight up. Problem is it is no longer made so you would have to find one that no one wants - that is not likely but certainly there might be someone willing to give one up, if they don't like it.

Hopefully another vendor will soon make something similar.

I have a cl2 and a breeze mask, both good 'blowers' so I place a wedge shaped foam piece placed in the middle of the bed between the two pillows,
I find that this solves the problem as it is wide enough to be free standing.

Fantastic responses and ideas !! Just want to thank everyone for your input. This CPAP still seems to be a 3nd person in my room feeling BUT I will get use to it. I will try out the new mask soon ( Quattro Air ) in the meantime I am doing the light cloth over the vent far enough to not cause restricted air flow but that only last for a few minutes because I turn on my other side. Again, thanks everyone for your input !!

SayHelloForMe wrote:I need some advice on how to stop air blowing on my wife as we sleep. My mask is the Resmed mirage quattro. The exhaust on the mask blows air ( which is normal ) but the problem is my wife cant sleep well with air blowing on her. I am thinking about improvising the mask ..... Does anyone know of a mask the does not blow air the way the quattro does ? ANY mask ?
If any of you have had the same problem as I am having, please let me know what you did to solve it. THANK YOU !!

Air exhaust direction is one of the things I don't like about the Mirage FX. The ports inferiorly blow on my hands and that keeps me awake. So I must put my hands under the sheets. It would be a better design if those lower/inferior holes were plugged and the others enlarged to compensate. I did make a blocker which is like a bridge over the inferior ports. It allows exhaust, but deflects it nicely. ResMed and other companies need to better test their masks before release to the public.
