Background
Late 40s, undiagnosed OSA finally treated with APAP
Finishing first 5 weeks
AHI untreated between 35 and 40
Treated <5, often <2
Generally successful and impactful therapy.
Concentration, Sleepyness etc issues slowly resolving.
My cholesterol has been above 200 for about 10 years
210-230 most observations
very healthy diet, no smoking, moderate exercise. 10mb crestor for severe year no serious impact
no change in diet, exercise or lifestyle has moved the needle on that cholesterol number.
so
1. Last cholesterol test prior to APA therapy = 254 (March 2014)
2. five weeks of APAP therapy (june/July)
3. new July cholesterol at 188
hdl = 48, ldl = 116
these are best results in 10 years
additional information
coronary calcium scan revealed very very low likely plaque. score under 1.
unless there is a placebo psychosomatic effect of APAP therapy i am not aware of,
CPAP therapy has had most impact amongst all attempted actions on high cholesterol ever.
anyone else have similar experience with drops in high cholesterol after starting CPAP therapy?

First I've heard of that. Are you more energetic and active than before you began treatment for OSA? That could help your numbers.
Congratulations for your quick success at adapting to treatment!! Many of us will be a bit jealous...

Personally I don't believe that total cholesterol means much at all. Do you realize that 50% of people who have a heart attack or stroke have LOW total cholesterol. And here's an interesting new study: http://www.drbriffa.com/2014/07/25/can- ... or-health/
