Modem doesn't get signal where I live, LOL!

Post by JustTia » Fri Jul 25, 2014 8:50 am

I was so concerned about the whole modem situation with dumping Apria. That they would still be monitoring or changing things if I had it plugged in, but then I plugged it in anyway in case my sleep doc actually logs into resmed's data server to look at it. I was going to ask my doc about it. Anyway, I live inside city limits, but at the edge of town where's it's more rural. The only really good cell signal provider out here is Verizon, and of course the resmed modems are at&t. I just got a call from the tech at Apria, asking me if they could get my sd card because they need to get my data.

So apparently the modem can't connect out here anyway. That's actually quite a relief to know. Makes me feel even better about switching to an online DME instead of Apria or Lincare. There's nothing the local DME could do for me any differently than an online one. Good to know.

What a pity. I can tell you are really upset about this.

I am not with Apria. I moved to a new place where the modem does not get a signal too. My DME doesn't seem to care...it has been a week and no calls from them yet.

They will only care when/if they need to submit an invoice to your insurance and don't have the compliance data your insurance company requires.

Or they will do what my dme did and make up data for the insurance company. I was on a 3 month rent to own plan, I took my card to the dme after the first month. They never called to get any compliance data for the next 2 months, my machine does not have a modern.

Tia, did your insurance company ever figure out if they required compliance data for future supplies? If I remember correctly, your insurer purchased the machine outright so they didn't requie compliance data for that. SOMEONE (your insurer) paid about $350 for the modem. I'd say Crapria was being fraudulent in charging for this unnecessary equip and your insurer should investigate.

Yes, my insurer said that they do not require compliance data. Their only requirement is prescriptions for the supplies I need, and that's it. I have United Heath care through my husband's employer.
