I have the S8 Autoset II w humidifier and Swift LT hose. Settings:
Auto - 7 min - 14 max - most night when i get up and check the pressure its stayed at 9.8 most.
I don't know if its my back hurting, or my shoulders or what is waking me up. 2 - 3 hours and poof i wake up and its at pressure 9.8 which i cannot fall back asleep on.
Any help would be great
As one who has experienced similar type issues for 2.5 years, I definitely empathize with your situation. I would definitely follow the advice to rule out as many factors as possible which I pretty much did by going to a PCP recently for blood work.
When you wake up, do you have any pain issues and if so, what are you doing to address those?
Is your mask comfortable? That can be an issue if it isn't.
Also, do you have any nasal congestion/obstruction issues that could be interfering with pap therapy success?
What does your sleep schedule look like?
Another thought to consider is if your apnea is mild or moderate and you don't have long events or severe desaturation is to see if a dental device might be a better option. I have posted a link to a study showing the effectiveness at various severity ranges in getting your AHI below 5 and they are generally higher with mild to moderate range.
Of course, this can have its own challenges such as finding a competent sleep medicine dentist which in my opinion may be even more key than what the research shows regarding effectiveness. In my opinion, finding someone who is exceptional and is willing to go the extra mile to make the necessary adjustments can greatly increase your odds of success.

I thought he wanted to call him
Some people feel that cell transmissions and electro magnetic stuff interferes with sleep
Re: Can't stay asleep!!! 2 - 3 hours and I wake up
Cell phones make noises for alerts, email, texts, screen turns on, notification lights blink.... If it is nearby and you don't have the sound down or off, it can wake you up and you may not even know it was what did it.ShelaghDB wrote:curious as to why this would matter?Do you have a Cell phone close by?

If I turn off my machine to go to the bathroom it always seems to back to lower pressure when I restart (I am on 10-20 VPAP and use no ramp on my S9)

Yes right at 3 hours usually. Yes my cell is about 10ft from me on silent. No calls or text or emails come through.

Maybe you could try taping your mask on... a couple pieces of gentle medical tape placed strategically... that will make it a little harder to remove, give you time to pause and tell yourself not to take the mask off.

This same thing happens to me too. I wake every 2-3 hours for no reason at all and just like you the pressure is always way up. Sometimes to 14. Mine is an auto cpap though so I start out at 4 and gives me what I need through the night. So I was waking up like that before cpap too but the difference is at least with the cpap I think my quality of sleep is better because I no longer feel like I'm dying from fatigue.
I am on for a little over a month now and I am still waiting for the night I can sleep without getting up.

Four is very low and fourteen is pretty high, a big enough change to wake someone up. If it is always way up, when you wake, that is probably the reason.Tightening the range would almost definitely help. Look at your data. You start at four... what is your average and what is your highest spike? Where does the pressure stay most of the night? Intelligently experimenting could solve your problems.Chelle25 wrote:This same thing happens to me too. I wake every 2-3 hours for no reason at all and just like you the pressure is always way up. Sounds like you're using a ramp from 4 - I found that starves me of air. I'm at 10-20 but average about 12.

Yeah will have to look at the data when I get a chance. I don't have the ramp feature set on mine it's an auto cpap that's what they have it set as starting at 4 and the highest it will go is 14.

If your VPAP is a VPAP Auto running in Auto mode, when you restart, the pressures will be at your minimum pressure settings, where as they may have been significantly higher when you turned the machine off.englandsf wrote:If I turn off my machine to go to the bathroom it always seems to back to lower pressure when I restart (I am on 10-20 VPAP and use no ramp on my S9)
In other words, when you turned the machine off, your EPAP may well have be up around 13-15 cm. Once you turn the machine back on, your EPAP is at 10 = min EPAP.
