RemStar Pro M Series won't come on when I push the button

Post by TX Girl » Tue Jul 22, 2014 9:52 am

I have a 2009 RemStar Pro M Series that won't always come on when I push the button, I sometimes have to push it 4 or 5 times and listen for a beep before it will start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully someone familiar with this will weigh in soon. I have the same machine and been expecting to have the same problem, as the machine I have is a replacement for one that had a malfunction of the on/off switch. Read at that time it was a known problem. It began with sporadic issues before it got to the point where repeated pushing wouldn't result in it coming on. My question for those familiar is does this machine have an auto on/off setting that can be used to bypass the switch?

The RemStar Pro M Series provider manual makes reference to Auto Off only.
Auto On is mentioned in the glossary but not in the details of the settings.

I never use the button to turn on my M-Series... I just put the mask on and start breathing. I only use the button to turn it off.

Not sure if there a program option for that or not.

The only quirk of the machine is when I unplug it from the wall. When I plug it back in, the unit will not work. I have to remove the small power cable that plugs into the back (round connector) and then plug it back in. Then the machine works. I don't move it often but this happens even when we lose power.

I currently use an M-Series Auto. The ONLY time I use the ON/OFF button is to turn it off. To turn it on, I simply put on the mask and take a couple of deep breaths.
Auto-On most certainly works. I'm not certain if it is simply there or if it has to be enabled through the provider menu. I do know I have the AUTO-OFF option disabled, so it is not tied to that.

Yes, the M Series Auto has Auto On and Auto Off.
The M series Pro doesn't - at least the provider manual manual says not.

Could you provide directions to the OP so that they can make the settings on their machine work properly?
Your machine is a Pro and not the Auto - correct?

yeah, my first auto was a 560 that I got in march, and have since replaced.

it doesn't *have* a setting (I just checked the machine... it has mask alert, and auto off, but if you wheeze on the hoze a bit, it'll start up on it's own.

me thinks it is a safety feature built into the machines so they will self-start in the event there is a power failure
not something you can turn off or on
if it doesnt start from breathing a few breaths you likely have a mask leak

Just checked my M-series Auto (different machine, I know, but similar) and it has the auto-off option, but auto-on just works. There is not an option in the clinition menu.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I will try mine and see if it comes on when I put the mask on. I'll let you know.
