Encore Pro2

Post by hueyville » Tue Apr 22, 2014 8:21 pm

With the help of users here I installed Encore Pro 2 about a year ago for my Respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced machine. All has been well but my doctor advised at one point I stop watching my day to day numbers, reading about apnea or any other obsessive behaviour about my apnea. He added a sleeping wedge, said to drop my card by once a month and try my best to convince myself that putting on my mask was normal. It actually helped. I discovered for my personality type feeling I can fix anything with data that separating myself from seeking the majic bullet I actually slept better. My AHI of 300+ untreated, 200 on CPAP, 90 on BiPAP and 15 on ASV went to 8.5 when I added the wedge and stopped obsessing.

So today he said that I was having some intermittent bad nights and wants me to go back to looking at my data to see if I can tell him what was different about my occasional bad night. But to know I have to look at my data and today I shoved my card into my computer and launched Encore Pro2 for the first time in months. It asked for my user name and password. I entered my normal public password and got naught. During the day I have used every combonation of user name and password have ever dreamed up to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanx ahead of time and have missed the group but when doc said try not to fry my feeble brain any more than is I followed orders. But also forgot the dang central apnea is part of same head injury that has zapped my short term memory since the incident. That said my AHI has averaged under 10 for almost a year and my sleep doc originally said that would never bappen so he and I are still pleased. Still not helping my mashed melon remember my password though.

If you didn't change the EncoreAdmin password expiration time frame then likely your password has expired...the default is only for 90 days. Did you by any chance set up a separate Encore user (not patient) or did you just keep using EncoreAdmin?
Did you attempt and fail 3 times in a row? If so, the entire software will lock up and we are pretty much screwed. There is a special script or code to reset the EncoreAdmin password but Respironics won't give it to patients...they will give it to doctors or DMEs.
I always tell people if you strike out 2 times...close the program and reopen it again to get 3 more strikes...never risk that 3rd strike.

Your SD card (I think your machine is a System One) will contain the last years worth of data files.
You can remove Encore Pro and install it again and start over...you won't lose much.
This will likely need to be done if you attempted 3 times and struck out.

There's a new version of Pro that now works with Windows 8.xxx (and older) so if you want/need it..send me a private message.

I have struck out then. The ASV machine is less than a year old so should have my data. Any tricks to the uninstall? Know some software will leave info to keep unauthorized users from doing that. Still have the install icon on desktop from original installation. Can I just uninstall from windows add & remove software tab, restart windows, then reinstall from old icon or is it more slippery than that? As a tip that a frequent user here used to expound on, stay away from an ASV machine if you can. Even with CPAP at pressure of 21 and BiPAP set at 18 ranging up to 24, my ASV machine seldom goes over 14 but is not as easy to tolerate as constant pressure machines.

These buggers have a mind of their own and as they take you wherever tbey want, I never seem to adapt completely. Pressure 14 my body adapts and is o.k. Pressure 24, I adapt and all is well. This ASV never is the same night to night, hour to hour or even minute to minute. Yes on paper it looks like the bees knees for all that ails you but I miss my CPAP and BiPAP even at double the pressure. I would stay with constant pressure unless your situation is like mine and your AHI is close to 100 even with constant pressure. I would have thought dropping to AHI under 10 at half pressure would equate to more comfort but has not proven to work that way in my case but gotta stay alive so can help the wife thus I guess will keep the darn thing.

No, nothing special that you need to do with the uninstall.
It should reinstall without issues. It does leave a few bits and pieces laying around but nothing that normally creates a problem.
It isn't tricky in that regard...just the 3 strike thing.

When you do get it installed again first thing to do once you make sure it is working okay is go change that password expiration time from from 90 days to never...I think you have to change it to "0".
If you can't find that area let me know and I will go dig out where it is and how to get to it. It's in the Company Settings area.
Also don't forget to change the time zone from default GMT to where you live.

Thats where i messed up. Went to reset time out to never could not figure out using zero. Just biggest number it let me. Will hopefully get it right tbis time. I prefer sleepyhead interface, any progress in getting it to read my ASV machine? Doctor also said not to take him so literal next time where completely refrain from advice and education. He just thinks for some, especially me, to live in my apnea all day and night adds worrh to the equation. Thus I wont go away this time but checking the forum a dozen times a day will not happen. Some can separate enough from their apnea to do so but more I think about it the more I worry about it. Part of new issue I believe is a comfort issue with my mask so he was kind enough to give me two new masks and headgear compliments of the house. It is hard to describe how life changing a good sleep doctor is. He spent 90 minutes with me without ever acting rushed. Until the patient understands he is willing to keep explaining. Good for us slower ones.

A couple of points: Yes, '0' is the never option... it doesn't tell you that until you select it... just did it last week. That three strikes tip from Pugsy is golden. As a matter of fact I almost tried to log in three times this morning (I was logging in as 'encore admin': ie. no space allowed) Luckily I caught myself just as I was getting ready to hit the enter key. Whew, close one. In that case Encore Pro 2.xx is user hostile software, plus some other design options aren't too great either (ie. hard to back-up). I don't like using it but I have no other options with my 960P autoSV.

Another common issue: If anybody has a problem with the SAVE button for the admin screens being off the bottom of a laptop's smaller screen, send me a PM and I'll write something up about my recent experience.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

All I can say is... I hope Sleepyhead handles the 960 soon.

User hostile software is not something I enjoy.

Mark mentioned last week on this forum that he was still addressing some issues with the PR series 960s and their different data structure, however he had nothing solid to report in terms of progress. Guess we'll just have to wait. Me miss, me Shweepyhead
