My first weekend.

Post by Calvinford » Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:53 am

I got my machine on Friday afternoon. I went out for beers with a friend Friday night and was definitely drunk when I went to bed... probably not the best way to test the machine out, but I wore it... and slept 12 hours straight. I woke up and was like OMG look at the time. Very groggy.

Saturday I went to bed early, I was groggy. Slept like 10 hours and woke up just before my alarm went off. Very groggy but I had a looonnnnggg dream, which I haven't done in so long I can't remember. Not a special dream as far as content, but it made me tear up in joy since I haven't dreamt like that in a decade. Napped Sunday afternoon too, still very groggy. Easter feast probably didn't help. Went to bed a little late~

Monday morning... drinking my coffee. Still got that medicine head. Groggy but not sleepy. Hoping I get over this sooner rather than later. But its nice to sleep well and to DREAM again. And I can sleep on my BACK.

Almost no problems on leaks once I readjusted the straps myself (the tech had them too loose). Sometimes when I roll over it moves the mask enough to leak and it wakes me, but I put it back and fall asleep.

The grogginess sucks, but its so good being able to sleep on my back and to dream real dreams. My life has already changed for the better.

When you have time please add your equipment to your profile so we can see easily at a glance what you are using.
Please use text option as the icony images are small and the models all look alike.

Are you taking any medication of any kind?

Once we know what equipment you are using we can hopefully point you to the software so you can make sure the therapy is optimal and not sub optimal which might explain the grogginess.

Yah, I will. I'm at work and don't recall the details.

The dream thing was very exciting for me too. Before I started CPAP, for about 6 years, my dreams were always a single scene replayed over and over, unable to progress, probably as my brain was gasping for air. I would usually feel like a "director".

First night of CPAP therapy, I had a long, continuous dream in which I explored an interesting environment from my own perspective, and it's been that way ever since. Sleep is so much more exciting now!

It occurred to me that descriptions of dreams as start-and-stop might be characteristic of oxygen-deprived brains, and would be a reasonable question to ask pre-sleep study to assess likelihood of OSA for those that dream.
