Re: HOME SLEEP LAB WITH INFRARED CAMERA

Yes Otter, I agree the 7 watt is a little bright. It's certainly more than needed. You can see the video is a little washed out (but I didn't try to optimize it). I'm not sure visible red has the same negative effects on sleep architecture as white. I know red doesn't negatively impact night vision....

HOME SLEEP LAB WITH INFRARED CAMERA

Hello, I've mentioned in some of my posts how important I thought home sleep videos are. I know some of you are doing them. They're really quite easy. Probably the easiest to set up is a web cam with time-lapse software. Many laptops have webcams built in and many of those have time-lapse software. ...

Re: With Numbers this good-why do I feel SOO000 BAD !!!

grumpygirl, One more thing, as promised, not about logs. I had to give up on nasal pillows. I too taped and wore a chin strap and it just didn't work. I still got the leaks in the back of my throat and as I recall made me feel pretty crappy. I finally went to the Quattro FFM with chin strap. Took me...

grumpygirl and robysue: See here and related for info on S8 card readers. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64953&p=606185#p606185 grumpygirl, As I think I've mentioned in all my posts in this thread and as robysue outlined so well, I think it is absolutely essential that one keeps a log t...

Re: With Numbers this good-why do I feel SOO000 BAD !!!

grumpygirl, I've gone back and reread your post and I think you may already have a major clue to your answer. I said that a low AHI doesn't necessarily mean restorative sleep, citing REM, sleep stage, etc. as others have mentioned. You said you often feel horrible when you get numbers like these (ie...

Re: With Numbers this good-why do I feel SOO000 BAD !!!

grumpygrirl, I think ahi, taken out of context, tells us little about our quality of sleep. For example, you could sleep a short time, have low ahi, and still not be rested. You could have abnormal sleep architecture caused by a number of things, drugs, depression, alcohol, PLMD, anxiety, etc., have...

Re: MASK CLEANING WIPES

I was just going to ask a similar question. I use "CPAP Mask Wipes" available from DME. They work very well, but they are pricey - $12 for 62 wipes. Hopefully, someone will have a more economical substitue.

Re: Mouth leaks

cowlypso, Get yourself a roll of inch wide medical paper tape (for sensitive skin). Take a piece about 12 inches long and run it from just in front of one ear down under the front of your chin and back up to just in front of the other ear. Makes a great chin strap that doesn't get in the way of mask...

Re: DoesCPAP lower fatigue in people without daytime sleepiness?

Arbutus, Be sure to read Janknitz' post: http://tinyurl.com/2arffqx before you get your machine. IMO, everyone should have an auto pap (APAP). You can run it as a CPAP if you want. AND, you need to be able to retrieve detailed data from your machine, one that tells you not only the averages but also...

Re: ResScan Detail Data Missing

Russ, I think it might have something to do with the card only being capable of holding 5 days of detailed data. If you go more than 5 days without downloading you are going to start loosing data. Is your download default set to "all available data"? Your losses of 5 days and the card only being abl...

Re: Experiment: FFM + Mouth Tape

What were your conclusions? I didn't see them posted. In the interests of science, I'd like to share my experience. After months of nearly a perfect fit, I started to have major leak problems with my Quattro (seal wasn't too old, but changed it anyway), so I drug out my old Swift Lt nasal pillows wh...
