Re: Ever turned down your pressure to 1 to see your AHI?

I did turn my pressure down to 4 one night for the same reason as you suggest. I don't remember the resulting AHI, but I do remember I felt so bad the next day I never tried it again!

Re: Help Analyze My ResScan Flow Data For Wake Ups

Hi Jeffster, Just a couple comments. You could try the Ambien therapy recommended by some. It goes like this: if you normally take 10 mg at bedtime, take half a pill (5mg) instead and when you wake 5 hours later, take the other half. The trick is not to take so much in the middle of the night that i...

Re: Best chin strap?

I just picked up a Halo from my DME. I hadn't seen it before, but it has been mentioned here. I like it. It's light weight, has a pocket for your chin, and the strap top is kind of circular, hence the name I guess, so that it sits on your crown and stays in place during the night. It's similar in de...

Dave, see my posts here, http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t67369/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65101&p=609795#p609795 , on how to make an infrared camera and light source. I use a simple time lapse program from Nimisis called Flix which is sold online for $10. I set it to take shots every 10 seconds which co...

Re: Mirage Quattro acceptable leak rate

Randy, have you tried the "mask fit feature" of your machine? I assume the S9 works the same as the S8. Just hold the "on" button down for a few seconds and the machine will come on at the highest pressure it is currently set for, i.e, the cpap pressure or the max of the apap pressure as appropriate...

Re: Mirage Quattro acceptable leak rate

Randy, I agree with Otter that your leak rate is way to high. If you've told your machine the proper mask, then the leak rate reported is the leak rate of the mask only. One thing to watch, it's fairly common for these parameters to be presented in different units. For example, L/sec and L/min. From...

MASK LINERS AND LEAKS?

I've read here where people have been able to control leaks with mask liners from RemZzzs, Pad-a-Cheek, and even T-shirt material. Can anybody explain how that works? I just don't see how using a porous material like cotton will stop leaks. I can see where the material might soften the noise of leak...

Re: how to fit zeo under a face mask

Good morning, George. Here's what I did. I have a Mirage Quattro Full Face mask. I believe the harness is the same as yours. In the harness, I put the Zeo transmiter and sensor pads, where the forehead portion of the mask would go discarding the Zeo head band. That holds the Zeo very nicely to the f...

Re: Resmed S8 card reader

DTSM, The S8 smartcard readers may not be available online, but they are still available through ResMed's US distribution system with part no. 22207. This is confirmed with ResMeds current (July 2011) product list and by a call to ResMed customer service this AM. My DME gave me a brand new one a cou...

Re: What type of doctor should monitor my treatments

Mike, I think Archangle summed it up pretty good. I would look for a "sleep certified" doctor but that's no guarantee. Your ENT might not be certified but he might be good. You have to decide. Most sleep doctors are pulmonologists, which is fine if your sleep disturbance is limited to respiratory pr...

ResMed reader: My DME was suddenly able find a loaner for me when I threatened to come in every 5 days to get the detailed data downloaded in preparation for a Dr's appt about 30 days in the future. I did find a generic on line that worked well. (see my other posts) The readers are are still in the ...

Re: OSA and Sleep Aids...Lunesta, Ambien, etc.

Hi Melli, I think you got your answer on the leaks. The machine just can't compensate for the big ones, although it tries. I've tried Ambien, Lunesta, and Provigil. I find a "little" ambien to be helpful. I split pills and take about 5 mg nightly. Tried Lunesta, didn't work for me. I've taken Provig...

Todd, see my rather lengthy post here: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t64953/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64673&p=603330#p603330 From the information you've given, I would guess you want the standard, no sam, version. You want a Non-CCID version. These are older versions with serial numbers beginning with...

Re: HOME SLEEP LAB WITH INFRARED CAMERA

Infared Flood Lamp OK, here's the infrared lamp to go with the camera. I think it works pretty good. Keeps the room in total darkness, at least to humans. Biggest expense here was the LED's, less than 20 bucks. For power, I used an old cordless phone transformer I had laying around. I mounted 8 LED'...
