Reading old posts

Post by Julie » Wed Apr 16, 2014 6:47 am

Does anyone know how to fix what wasn't broken until a while ago when the forum made some internal changes and now, no matter how I change my profile I can only read one year old notes... the Display config. at the bottom of the main page here only allows one year old ones too, but I used to be able to look at 5-10 yr old ones, so this is quite annoying. I know that Carolyn rigged things to prohibit old polls (at least it worked for a week or so ) but I'm not looking for those.

I am not having any issues with the old threads.
What are your settings in Profile ...Board preferences...edit global display options?
Particularly
Display topics from previous days and Display posts from previous days

Display Topics (and Display Posts) from previous days I have set to one year only because all other options are for even less. And Board Prefs on main forum page also give no other options but one year. Am I missing something?

Do you not have a choice for "all posts" in the drop down menu for display preferences
and "all topics"...

You might try clearing the board cookies and then resetting everything after logging in again.

That screen shot was of my current settings and I can access the very first post from back on 2004.
I did have it changed briefly during the annoying poll troll weekend spree to omit some of the crap but changed it back after Carolyn locked a bunch of the old polls.
I didn't have any trouble getting all the pages of threads with the change back to "all posts" and "all topics".

Have you tried removing the board cookies and all that?

Yes, I think so. Another choice is "All Topics" which, in this instance, really means "All Time". If you sign in, you must change the control panel setting first or it will default to whatever's there. If you're not signed in, you can change it on the home page.

Thank you Jay! I thought I'd done that, but maybe hadn't seen the 'All posts' option right at the top of that list - anyhow, it's 'taken' now so I can go look into the past.
