Re: Dreamwear. An elbow not a 'ball and socket'?
My F10 has an elbow that swivels... is that a combo elbow/ball? Seriously though, I also hang it on my headboard and that keeps the hose where I want it.

Re: love/hate frustration
I use a full-face mask, the hose snaps on, and its easy to talk with the mask on if I wait to connect the hose until I'm ready for sleeping. I like to read in bed before turning the light out but I can't wear my glasses with the mask on and I can't read w/o them, so the mask goes on the nightstand w...

Re: emptying water on travel
I've not had a problem with that. Most often, I'm able to put the machine into the drawer of the nightstand and it usually just stays put. As a precaution, you could always just empty the chamber each morning if you're staying for several nights.

Re: Quick question on Airfit F10
I'm not really sure... but I think they are longer rather than wider. I use the medium AirFit F10, and prior to the F10 when I first started this journey, I was using Quattro Air, which uses the same cushion. While on the Quattro, I switched to small from medium, thinking it might work better... and...

Re: Do I actually have sleep apnea?
The symptoms you describe can all be attributed to sleep apnea; and the gold standard for treatment is cpap.. the other remedies all sounded horrible to me when I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago, so I bit the bullet and went with cpap. I suggest you choose to use a cpap machine, and with whatever trou...

Re: Losing weight & its effect on sleep apnea
I've lost 60 pounds over 2 years, the same amount of time I've been on CPAP... and my AHI is now consistently <3, usually between 1 and 2. I'm guessing weight loss has something to do with it.

Re: Another Stupid Sleep Center
When I went back for a follow-up appointment, neither the tech or the doc noticed that I'd changed my settings. Since then, I just answer a few questions over the phone and my answers determine for them whether I need to come in. They send me a new RX in the mail.

Re: Concerns: Having Surgery, Taking CPAP
I doubt very much that they will change your settings, but if they do it will be because you need a different setting due to anesthesia, but it can always be changed back, as 4kidsmom said. With a recent procedure I had done, they didn't even use it, though they had me bring it so that if needed, it...

Re: Are you a mouth breather or a mouth gagger?
An option to nasal mask is a full face mask, which I as a mouth breather I preferred the night of my sleep test, and that is all I have used.

Re: How long till you started noticing a difference?
I started about 2 1/2 years ago and I think it was several weeks before I was sleeping through the night and maybe 2 months before I had my therapy optimized with pressure adjustments and being truly comfortable with the alien on my face. In the first year my AHI gradually went down, and by the end ...

Re: Using lotion
If you use lotion, you will likely have problems unless you use a mask liner. I wash everything off my face before going to bed and use lotion early in the day. Lotion, even makeup, will prevent a good seal without the use of liners. Mask liners available from the sponsors of this forum at https://w...

Re: Why would dieting make my AHI increase?
I can't think of anything that would cause that other than a change in your mask fit but I'm not an expert at interpreting the graphs. I'm thinking there may not be a direct relationship otherwise. In my case, I have lost 60 pounds since starting cpap, and both my AHI and leak rate have decreased. I...

Re: Travelhose - collaspible hose for travel
I don't see the need for this either, and I agree, it does look spammy. When I travel, my hose fits nicely into the case that came with the equipment. I had a problem the first time I flew with it when the case had to be opened for security and the hose fell out of the open-ended pocket but solved t...

Re: No water being consumed at night from the humidifier.
My PR 60 heater is currently turned off, so it doesn't noticeably use much water. If I turn it on, more water is used so I have to fill it more often. As others above said, your location, the ambient temperature, outdoor temps and rain or drought conditions cause variability in the amount of water u...
