Post by snamvar » Tue Feb 15, 2005 5:39 pm

Hi,
I have posted few topics on Delayed Sleep hase Syndrome. This is where you biological clock is out of sync with the rest of the world. You want to sleep late (2-6 am) and wake up late (10-12 am).
I have found a nice support group online if you are interested:

I would really like to know if you know of other support groups about DSPS. Thanks.
I don't do mornings !!!

Sounds like a group for my son!!

He likes to stay up all night and sleep all day!! He would make the perfect Night Auditor!!!

I fight with him every night to get to bed and every morning to wakeup for school!! I will have to tell him about this!!

Thanks for the enlightening information!

I don't know how old your son is, but if he is a teenager, the pattern of going to bed later and wanting to sleep later is built into his circadian rhythms.

It is very common for teenagers to have difficulty going to sleep before 1 or 2 am and then wanting to sleep till 10 am or later, especially on the weekends. some school systems recognize this and have changed starting hours and get better grades and attendance from the kids.

However, when this keeps occuring into the 20's or later, then it might well be Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. There are ways to work around this, but it is helpful to work with a sleep specialist.
