Tip for Mouth Breathers ???

Post by 53now » Wed Feb 16, 2005 8:32 am

I am always amazed at the lengths we will go to get a good night's sleep. While snooping around in several Sleep Apnea Message Boards I stumbled across a post that suggested using a "Cervical Collar" to prevent mouth breathing !! HUMMMMM Could this possibly work ? The poster said ...the collar prevents the lower jaw from dropping....thus controling mouth breathing............ Wow !! what a sight...Mask....hose....machine....humidifier.....cervical collar..... what next ?? Any thoughts ?

Rich

PS The poster also said ...it's not that uncomfortable. I did a quick search on Cervical Collars.....and found that many are made of soft foam and are adjustable.............hummmmmm still thinking about this

Great, but what about those of us who don't HAVE a cervix?

Liam, who also doesn't want to be mistaken for a priest.

Liam, watch out I think that would require a little cutting. Or a lot depending...

I'm going to ignore the whole "cervical collar to cervix" portion and address the actual use of a cervical collar.. That may work for some people but I snore with my mouth closed. Yes, I was blessed with large tonsils and a large soft palate. So as soon as those tissues relax, I'm sawin' logs! So a cervical collar would just give my boyfriend one more thing to tease me about...........

Hosehead and proud of it!
