Tip for Comfort lite users

Post by xguy » Mon Feb 14, 2005 8:24 am

Ok I'm new to this, so I've been trying many things , of course like many here I wanted to try the lightest possible mask so I bought the comfort lite.
When I first tried it I tried the direct seal cushion #5, that didn't go too well , my nose was hurting the next day plus , it seem that I am alergic to what they claim not to be latex, so I resorted to the direct cushion (medium) which I usually tape my nose to avoid direct contact and alergic reation. I use paper medical tape for alergic skins.

that worked ok except for the fact which many of you have experienced here, it leaks when you move around, why?

since the cushion is extended from the tube , and there is not direct pressure on it, any little movement of the head gear will cause it to go off allignment, therefore it will leak.

Solution:

I happened to have one of these laying around which was perscribed to me but I never needed to use :

I inserted the hole in the tube that extends from the forehead before you attach the little elbow containing the direct cushion.
attach the cushion after that.
pull the shin strap down, where the big hole wraps around the nose cushion , and becomes like a support,.
gently strap the shin strap around your head to the lower part of your neck.
you don't need a lot of pressure just enough to keep the cup centered on your nose in case of movements.

I tried straping it above ears but that covers the eyes and it was unconfortable, I found straping it down provides less contact and you barely can feel it.

Well I thought I would share this with my fellow sufferers here hope it works for you, I hope I was clear enough about the procedure, let me know what you think
