Everyone seems in favor of merging all forums into one so that when you go to the forums you only have one place to check for all the info.

We'll merge all categories (CPAP and Sleep Apnea, Product Interviews, and Introductions) soon.

LOL, Johnny:
Right now though, I believe the most valuable thing we can provide is clear, acurate, easy to get to information and that has to be our first focus.

How's that for a "canned response"?
You operate with a deluxe can opener, and we all appreciate it! I think you're absolutely right about what the first focus needs to be - info, info, info - and easy to find.

Thanks for planning the forum merger. You've created an excellent message board, and it's wonderful that you continue to think about ways to make it better. Very cool.

Product Interviews, deluxe can openers etc...

Johnny,

We all understand what you're up against with the "product managers". They are highly trained to quote the company line for various reasons some of them being legitimate. One thing that would go a long way in maintaining your credability in conducting the interviews is when a question goes unanswered indicate so in the interview results. Also if a question is answered in a way to avoid answering please add comentary indicating such. This way the blame for "issues skirted" is passed along to the interviewee and not carried by the interviewer. No canned answer left unchallenged.

As far as the forum content search I use my google toolbar and select search site instead of search web... works great.

And just to be a stick in the mud. I'm not in favor of merging the forums - too much info in one pot spoils the broth. But if you do so I'm not going to take my computer and go home.

Thanks for all your effort in working at improving an already great forum.
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

A product specific fedback section, like "Nasal Masks" with your rating and own comments.

Excellent points and suggestions, Wader, about throwing the spotlight on the product manager's answer/lack of answer without having the interviewer appear to just go along with it.

heheh, I won't take my computer and go home either, if merger didn't happen. I think a few stickies at top will keep the broth ingredients separated well enough, but any way they do it is fine with me, too.

Very refreshing to have the site owner asking for input and thoughtfully considering changes. A reflection, perhaps, of the kind of good online service so many have come to appreciate from cpap.com for quite some time.

I agree these folks are "top notch"

My concern about creating one forum is what I see when I browse TAS. I get lost in the vast canyon of subjects and replies. I'm sure you all know by now that I don't like "wading through a bunch of muck"

I'm confident that Johnny and Co will continue to organize the forum in a user friendly format what ever it may be.

Maybe we will be able to spend Christmas pouring over the Respironics interview trying to find that telling slip of the reigned in Product Manager tongue. LOL

I like all the "apnea stuff" being in one forum on the TAS board. However, one of the nicer things about this board is the little green flag that appears before each topic when there's a new reply or new topic since our last reading. Refreshing the page makes them current, and if an unread reply was posted after we moved on, refreshing the page pops up another green flag to get our attention. That's cool.

By far the most unwieldy, user-unfriendly (in more ways than one, imho) forum to "wade" through is that of sleepnet. I still check it from time to time because of informative posts from people like SleepyTimeGal, Kevin from WallaWalla, tomjax and several others. But I much prefer the freer exchange of info and navigation ease of talkaboutsleep and this board.

One more suggestion

Post by SuckingWind » Sat Dec 18, 2004 7:40 am

Thanks for the chance to provide input. I love this forum.

I too voted for the encyclopedia. It seems that most people have questions about the basics (as did I).

I am not sure if it was mentioned but I think a user rating of each machine, mask, etc. would be helpful. It allows cpap'ers to see which items are considered best without the undue influence of the manufacturer.

My two cents worth...keep up the great work!!
Dangerous, but cuddly.

pressure versus mask

Post by kilrush_ » Sun Feb 13, 2005 4:37 pm

Hi Could somebody tell me is there a difference in the type of mask used, if the pressure is high. In other words can you use a nasal type mask if the pressure is 14 or higher. Thank You

My 2 cents worth

Post by glassgal » Sun Feb 13, 2005 5:10 pm

Hi all,

I agree with Muck and Rested Gal -- the encyclopedia is a great idea, and keeping everything together is good too. I also like the idea of categorizing info on masks, specific units, etc, but that will be hard, as we all tend to get off topic and ramble on about other stuff!

I am struggling now trying to find info on how to interpret my silverlining results from my first night on 420e? I tried the search and didn't get much that was really relevant -- maybe my parameters were too broad.

If anyone would like to assist me with my SilverLining results, I would appreciate it -- I will be here on Kauai for a few more days and checking the board periodically.

Thanks from Alohaland,

Jane

Need Newbi "getting Started with PAP" document

All the things your Doctor didn't tell you!

Why you need heated humidity. What to do about rainout.
How to keep your mouth closed. What different kinds of masks
are available and the pros and cons of each. Chin straps and
taping pointers for mouth breathers. Placement of machine
relative to your bed, so water doesn't flood into your mouth.
Solutions to common problems, etc.
